samba 2.2.7 & MIT Kerberos 1.2.6
Hi, I'm new to this list so I apologise if this has been asked before. I'm trying to compile samba 2.2.7 with kerberos support. I have MIT Kerberos 1.2.6 installed and working as a KDC but when I samba wont compile with --with-krb5 configure works ok and finds the kerberos install but when I do a make I get this error on linking smbd: /usr/local/lib/libkadm5srv.so: undefined reference

I've had problems installing visual c++ runtime 2005 as well. Just so you know, I'm a complete noob. This is the first time I've ever had to use wine, and I don't know the inner workings of the Linux OS at all. Any commands I've used have been written by someone else and saved on my computer to copy and paste, or I've found online and just copy and pasted. I've tried

Can't install Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable
Hello, i wanted to install a software that requires the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable environment. The software normally includes this installer, but it didn't work. I tried downloading the Visual C++ directly from microsoft, and install it. The installer started, showed briefly a progress bar, and stopped. When i go to uninstall, Visual C++ appears, but can't be uninstalled.

Dos error 59 messages
Hi there, I just upgraded from samba-1.9.18p8 to 2.0.5a on my Solaris 2.5 server, and I'm getting "Dos error 59" messages on my NT-4.0/SP4 boxes when they attempt to run an old windows app "TimeTrax" off the server. Any ideas? I made sure kernel oplocks is off, but this doesn't seem to help. Note also that the following messages: [1999/09/08 10:50:35, 0]

Spacewalk? Local repo? Cache?
I have a mix of CentOS 5, 6, and now 7 servers at work. There are enough of them now that it is starting to make sense for them to get updates from an internal source. I've seen RHN Satellite in years past. It looks like it may be a way to allow Windows admins here (familiar with WSUS) to update Linux boxes. A local repo might be easier to set up, but (as with Spacewalk) it seems like

pblms with samba 2.X /3.x and NT--W2k
There is OBVIOUSLY something wrong somewhere. EITHER a WHOLE bunch of us are stupider than we thought, the documentation left off a step, or there is something SO blatently obvious that we are ALL staring it in the face and missing it inches in front of our faces. try Again?: Setting up net of W2K boxes with Samba PDC
OK: Here's my question. I am setting up a brand new PDC and network of (ugh) between 20 and 50 win2k clients, and want a samba server. explain please? was: pblms with samba 2.X /3.x and NT--W2k
Kristyan (and all) I just searched the samba website, and I couldnt find any reference to spnego except for a slide show (samba-lwny.ag ) that I can't open. ANYWAY. since I can't find any reference to the spnego parameter, could someone explain what it is, what it does, and HOW it can help us "stupid" people? It doesnt seem to be a parameter I've come across before..

Windows UIDs
hi all. how does samba create its uids and gids from the windows domain? and what can i do to prevent it 'dropping' these mappings? i've set up windows 2003 sfu to allow samba to map to the uid stored in active directory (by using sfu nis), is this the safest way to ensure folder permissions remain constant or am i being unnecessarily scared? :-) thanks for any tips john

Hi Everyone, Could someone tell me whether Tinc builds its own routing table to 'hop' between LANs? e.g. LAN A <--> LAN B <--> LAN C Would Tinc resolve a path between LAN A and LAN C automatically (i.e. to hop over LAN B)? sampling and nls formula

are --temp-dir and --daemon mode compatible options
Hi, As far as I can tell, after version 2.6.4, the "--daemon" and "--temp-dir" options are not compatible anymore. Previous versions allow this. We use this heavily at my site. Is this an intentional change or bug? My command to start the daemon is this: /usr/local/bin/rsync --temp-dir=/.rsyncd-spool --daemon Thanks, -Eddie
