Wine and Baldur's Gate
Well, Now that I've made it through the actual install, I figured I'ld take Baldur's Gate for a spin. The main screeen, where you select to play the game, change the configuration, etc, comes up fine. There's a slight pause after clicking 'Play' while BGMain.exe starts and X is set yo 640x480 (I'm guessing this has something to do with DETACH_PROCESS?), but

Fatal Error while Installing Baldur's Gate II
Howdy Folks, I'm trying to install Baldur's Gate II on a windowsless Wine configuration and not having much luck. When I run Setup.exe from /cdrom, I get the Baldur's Gate II splash screen, the progress bar indicating that InstallShield is preparing to install Baldur's Gate II - Shadow of Amn and a message box stating 'Error installing iKernel.exe: (0x1400)'. Baldur's Gate slow after upgrading Linux Kernel
I'm running wine 1.1.2 on Gentoo Linux. When playing at least Baldur's Gate I and Baldur's Gate II with Linux 2.6.21 kernel it does run smoothly but changing the kernel to any newer version does the game to run slowly. I have been checking the config of both kernels, and I have tried to get the same in them. I have a GF 6600 GT and nvidia 173.14.09, but I don't think it's the

Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn - failure to run
To come clean at the very beginning of all this, I'm a very new Linux user - my Windows XP computer decided to destroy itself and so Ubuntu was my only choice in lieu of buying another copy of an already shoddy operating system. Because the Baldur's Gate 2 CDs do not have copy-protection, I simply copied their contents into a single folder in c: within wine's invisible directory.

Ubuntu 8.10 (32 bit), Wine 1.1.8, Baldur's Gate 1 problem.
Hello everyone, First of all let me say I'm a linux newbie, having only used the OS for a few days. I'm currently experiencing a problem with trying to get Baldur's Gate 1 to run. The install went flawlessly (Ubuntu 8.10, Wine 1.1.8) however when the launcher pops up. No matter what I click it hangs. I've tried all of the windows types in the Wine configuration panel but the

Can't run Baldur's Gate II - Shadows of Anm
I am using Fedora 8 with Wine 1.0 rc3. The game seemed to install ok. I did a full install. When I try to run baldur.exe from the wine menu in KDE I get a splash screen opening up with the options to install, exit , configure, update and demos. I also get a message box telling me that I have to install Baldur's Gate II before playing. As far as I can tell, it's installed. Can anyone help

How to fix Baldur's Gate 2 in CIDER so it doesn't crash?
Hey! Hello, WineHQ. Signed up because I've hit the limits of my ability with CIDER. I'm using the CIDER version of Baldur's Gate 2 on my Macbook 10.5.8 and I've gotten the game to run fine in Single Player. Unfortunately, I'm unable to run it in multiplayer mode which is a favorite of mine. Normally one can run a multiplayer TCP/IP game in BG2 so they can import/export

I can provide a save game if necessary. Thanks in advance, FD

Wine redraw problem with baldur's gate ii (and others)
Hello. When i upgraded wine from 0.9.46 to 0.9.53 i noticed a annoying thing. When i run Baldur's Gate II - Shadows of Amn (and Icewind Dale II) on normal fullscreen mode they work fine. If i enable the "emulate a virtual desktop" option so that it runs on a window, it works fine until another window gets on top of the wine window. For example, i run xterm and run wine. If i click

Baldur's Gate II can't find my CD
Hi, I managed to install BG II (following some posts at http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=408), with some difficulty. I eventually copied all the files from all four disks into a single directory, and the install then proceeded smoothly. Now, the launch screen comes up fine, but when I select play, it fails with a windows-style error box claiming: "We cannot

Baldur's gate II installing problem...
Hi all, I'm using wine 9.57 in ubuntu gutsy, I'm trying to install BGII but the installshield, when reaches about 78%, asks me for the cd2: I give the directory path and immediately it asks for cd 3,4,5. Naturally i can't provide cd 5 because BGII is a 4cds game. I've tried to upgrade installshield with no result. I've also tried to eject (wine eject) the directory with cd1 but

Re: Baldur's gate II - 'rest' function problem
Give it a few minutes (Alt-Tabbing out and back into the game a few times). You'll find out that you just rested for 22 days at once. It seems random when it happens, but also seems save-specific.

Baldur's gate II - 'rest' function problem
I run Ubuntu 10.4 and Wine 1.2 Everything works fine, I had no problems with installation but during the tutorial (I haven't tried elsewhere) when learning about casting spells I am told to click 'rest' but this results in a blank, black screen. I have tried running with and without 3D acceleration as well as in 16bit and 32bit modes but it doesn't seem to make any difference.

BG 2 shows "List index out of bounds (-1)"
Hi, I'm trying to run Baldur's Gate 2 from Bioware here; I installed natively under Windows since the installer would fail. I've been using winesetuptk on a Debian unstable system with latest Wine packages; before starting, I purged my previous wine setup and my user files so I would get a clean start. The winesetuptk found my native Win95 partition (on which BG2 works well) and uses

Baldur's Gate 1 problem
Hi, at first I was getting the "your opengl drivers are not installed properly" error message and after upgrading to Debian Squeeze and reinstalling them that error message is gone. I can actually start the game and see the intro and the logos of the companies. Either I can try to click the screen with the Nietzsche screen away, then the game freezes up and clicking again exits the game

baldurs gate...
Hi NG, i tried to run baldurs gate. I saw the Intro and thats all. Wine was always printing the same message:"fixme:ddraw:Main_DirectDraw_CreateSurface App didn't request a valid surface type - assuming offscreenplain". Is this a missing feature in wine (when will it be implemented)? PS:I'm running the cvs version of today(4.May)
