Civilization 4, Beyond the Sword crashes with "Out of memory
Hello everyone,
Since a few weeks, Sid Meier's Civilization 4, Beyond the Sword 3.17 has become unstable on my system. I had no problems running it before. In fact, I submitted test results to the AppDB about it here: http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=12753&iTestingId=34283
However, at the moment, Civ4 will crash after only minutes of play, with an out of

Anyone out there running Dragon Age:Origins on SNOW LEOPARD?
Im currently working at it, and got as far as being able to resume a saved game, but only for a few seconds before it crashes.
You can see my full progress in the AppDB. Since, despite many helpful posts, there doesn't seem to be anyone actually running it on SLeo over there, I was just wondering if ANYONE has been successful in that task, or if I'm the only lonely wanderer in the dark...

Eve Online in Ubuntu
I recently switched to Ubuntu from Windows XP with only Eve Online being a Windows program I want to be able to run on my computer.
I have read this thread:

and this thread:
http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1226117
to make Eve work in Ubuntu using Wine.
I must say that with a dual monitor system Eve

Rows of a data frame to matrix
useRs,
I have a data frame where four of the columns of the data frame represent the values of a two-by-two
matrix. I'd like to, row-by-row, go through the data frame and use the four columns, in matrix form, to
perform calculations necessary to create new values for variables in the data frame. My first idea was to
use apply:
apply(as.array(data.frame[,1:4]), 1, matrix, nrow=2)

separate row averages for different parts of an array
I have an array with 44800 columns and 24 rows I would like to compute the
row average for the array 100 columns at a time, so I would like to end up
with an array of 24 rows x 448 columns. I have tried using apply(dataset, 1,
function(x) mean(x[])), but I am not sure how to get it to take the average
100 columns at a time. Any ideas would be welcomed.
thanks,
Spencer

[ANNOUNCE] xorg-server 1.18.99.2
I think we're ready for RC1 at this point, but wanted to give people a
chance to scream about "just one more API change" until tomorrow. Let me
know if there's something I'm missing; if I don't hear anything, I'll be
tagging RC1 in the morning.
