Simulate Network Cable Disconnect
Hello All, I am having trouble simulating a network cable disconnect with KVM. I would like to test active backup bonding for a switch IOS upgrade in a production environment. Basically I have the VM running on a bridged network which is also tied into GNS3 simulating a small-scale version of the production environment. I have tried bringing down the vnetX interface and the actual virtual

Shielding of T1/E1 cables WAS RE: Pinouts for T1/E1 crossover cable WAS "RE: what cable to connect a legacy PBX to a TE410P ?"
My telco used cat5 as well for the demarc to CPE. It's also with noting that many channel banks, such as my Atlas, and zapata.conf itself also have parameters to allow you to tune the gains to compensate for cable signal loss. I've never had to touch them, and my CPE is about 300 feet from the PRI demarc (with an ordinary Cat5 cable connecting them)

Shielding of T1/E1 cables WAS RE: Pinouts for T1/E1 crossover cable WAS "RE: what cable to connect a legacy PBX to a TE410P ?"
I was once told by a lineman that the cables they use didn't have that many twists in them because it wasn't needed, and that the extra twists would effectively use more cable and thus cost and weigh more than triple what they do now. He told me that with the number of twists in the Cat 5 cable it would cancel out any interference, but he also stated that the effective length was

Pinouts for T1/E1 crossover cable WAS "RE: what cable to connect a legacy PBX to a TE410P ?"
At Sangoma we do quite a lot of back-to back T1 and E1 connections. T1 is not a very fussy connection, as the baud rate is only about 750 kbps. In our experience, for error free communications you can use the following rules of thumb: Up to 50 ft: Flat patch cable Up to 500 ft: Ordinary twisted telephone cable Cat 5 may be overkill unless you are going hundreds of feet. Wrong volume size with df
I have a glusterfs setup with distributed disperse volumes 5 * ( 4 + 2 ). After a server crash, "gluster peer status" reports all peers as connected. "gluster volume status detail" shows that all bricks are up and running with the right size, but when I use df from a client mount point, the size displayed is about 1/6 of the total size. When browsing the data, they seem to

Pinouts for T1/E1 crossover cable WAS "RE: what cable to connect a legacy PBX to a TE410P ?"
Can't anyone stop self-promotion and tell the poor guy what he needs. A T1/E1 X-over cable using an RJ-45 (8-cond.) is pinned out as follows: 1 - 4 2 - 5 3 - NU 4 - 1 5 - 2 6 - NU 7 - NU 8 - NU NU = Not Used I have not in my experience seen any problems with using a Good Quality Cat5 vs. Cat 3 (telco standard) cable for X-connects. YMMV, but you should be fine. As far as the shielding

Powercom Black Night 600AP UPS Serial Cable Pinout
Hi there! I just recently got a nice new UPS to power most of my computer equipment, and having it working perfectly under NUT. However, I had a perfectly good Powercom Black Night 600AP UPS, which I'm now trying to get to power my internet gateway. Unfortuantly, due to not thinking on my part, I threw away the original serial cable. I have tried a straight - through cable, and the one

Install driver for USB programming cable
I have successfully installed an XP application in Kubuntu 10.04 to be used to program a new hand-held radio, thanks to WINE and Winetricks. My system will not, however, recognize the usb programming cable and attached radio when I plug them in. I have an XP driver for the cable... the question is, where do I install it so that the software can use it and I can see the radio?? Does it go in

Re: Help with USB-to-serial cable
This is a general problem with the low-cost Prolific processor chip and drivers. You should invest in a better USB to Serial adapter (http://www.usconverters.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=67&products_id=244) with a FTDI chipset. It costs a bit more but its well worth the money. The drivers for the FTDI chipset are well documented and compatible with most devices.

Looking for a patch cable for my SPA941 Phones
Hi all, i know this question is not directly asterisk related - but i have no idea where else to ask. We do have around 50 pieces of LinkSys SPA941 - these phones do have a 2.5mm plug connection - and we do have many many headsets we used with normal PC's before (so 2x3.5mm plug connection). Does anyone here know where i can get an adapter 1x2.5mm -> 2x3.5mm ? Or can anyone here tell me

Cable Internet problem when Shorewall started
I just switched from a Magma DSL connection to a Rogers cable connection, but I am unable to access the Internet (resolve hosts) when Shorewall is started. I am not dropping packets destined for the ports by which Rogers sets the ip address, nor do I filter others which Rogers uses. In fact, I removed all of that from /etc/shorewall/rules and restarted Shorewall, but without success. I am
