Hi Shadi,
I'm also using notes 5.0.12 and I've posted at May,05-2005 a
message just talking about how to start Linux apps from a Windows app
over/under Wine. The only problem is that I'm not using wine-20050524 ...
8-(. Instead I'm using 20040813.
Follows the message. Feel free to ask me more questions and if you
want I can send to you another types of scripts.

Linux apps from inside Wine (was:Re: Problems with Lotus Notes R5.0.12 under Wine 20050524)
Hi Andreas,
I saw someone (Mike or Joachim, I think) at the list saying you
have to shutdown the wineserver. It will overwrite the system.reg as soon
it goes down. So before you make the changes be sure there is none wine*
process running.
Hope this helps. If not, write us again and we'll help you

Problems with Lotus Notes R5.0.12 under Wine 20050524
Hello all,
I have installed R5.0.12 on Red Hat Fedora Core 3, using Wine 20050524. I'm
getting a lot of FIXME messages but everything seems to be working fine.
Except for the following things:
1) Attachments are working fine, except for launching the attachment to
open directly in OpenOffice.org or Adobe Reader ... Most likely that this
is a WINE issue rather than a Lotus Notes/Under Wine

kghostview and xdg-open. Need to fix problem across whole system
In Centos 5.3, a bad problem has surfaced in user land. We want to use
either Evince or Adobe acroread as the pdf view, but the update of
kdegraphics has somehow screwed up these systems so that the odious,
horrible, awful pdf viewer kghostview is used. It is what you get
when you doubleclick on pdf files, it is what programs get when they
try to use xdg-open framework.
This happens even though

I have read the R manual and particularly the part : Installation R under Unix but I improved some difficulties for succeed in this task.
Actually I have create a R repertory where I have unzipped the file R-2.9.1.tar.gz. In this repertory I do ./configure in cygwin but some errors appear and I don't

Building R on Interix 6.0
Dear all,
I have been trying to build R-2.5.1 on the Interix-6.0 Unix subsystem
that ships with Vista and everything looks fine during the configure
except towards the end when "sed" throws an error:
sed: 1: ""s/\*/\\\*/g"": invalid command code "
A few lines later I then get:
./configure: : bad substitution
So I guess sed is trying to do something and

You should put in the "acroread.exe" script a line like this:

Winepath on Mac
I am trying to use winepath to convert between the WINE native file path and the normal Mac native filepath. Unfortunately, I do not seem to be able to return the logical Mac UNIX path when using winepath:
Macintosh:~ tpatko$ /Applications/Firefly/WINE/bin/wine winepath -u Z:\Applications\Firefly\BENCH1.out
/Users/tpatko/.wine/dosdevices/z:/Users/tpatko/ApplicationsFireflyBENCH1.out

Using unix paths in console mode wine apps
Hi,
is there an environment variable that enables plain Unix
filenames in Wine applications?
I need to cross compile PostgreSQL and some third party modules
on my Fedora 15 system to 64-bit Windows. PostgreSQL uses its
"pg_config" for 3rd party code to tell the include dir, compile flags, etc:
[zozo at localhost postgis-1.5.3]$ /usr/x86_64-w64-mingw32/sys-root/mingw/bin/pg_config.exe

Making R talk to Win/OpenBUGS in Linux (again)
I'm back!
I've just learned that, on a fully updated Fedora Core Linux5 sytem,
the working solution to access Winbugs under wine via the R package
"rbugs" no longer works. Here was my last post on this topic (with
the formerly working solution) from January.
http://finzi.psych.upenn.edu/R/Rhelp02a/archive/68497.html
Currently, what happens is that WinBUGS starts up, but just

How long is winepath available?
Hello!
Can someone provide me an estimate or relevant source of information on
how long is command winepath available or from wich version of wine? I
would need this as I work on some R[1] package R2WinBUGS[2] that calls
a Windows program WinBUGS[3] and that program needs windows paths.
Currently winepath or parsing of .wine/config is used and I wonder if I
can remove fiddling with .wine/.config.

acroread = resource hog
Any have trouble with acroread taking up massive cpu and memory?
I exited my Firefox browser and the lil bastard was still hogging up
my resources.
Took up 69% of 4GB, and wouldn't let go, until a kill -9 showed'em,
have to do it every time I open a pdf in firefox.
Any use Xpdf or something else?

AcroRead failing miserably in CentOS 5.0
I could swear that this was working just last week, but now when I run
the Adobe Acrobat reader, it hangs. If I run it "directly"
(/usr/bin/acroread) with -DEBUG as the first argument, I get an
infinite loop of:
expr: syntax error
I tried removing and reinstalling it, but no change.
Any ideas?

acroread security problem
Dear all,
I think there's a security problem with the acroread plugin for firefox.
I'm using sysutils/pwsafe to manage my passwords. A feature of this
tool is that it can copy the requested password to the X clipboard,
allowing the user to paste it (eg. in a password box), never seeing
the pass in clear.
When I load a PDF document in Firefox, the acroread process lives on
even after the

RE: New $85 VOIP Phone
Back to the ACTUAL TOPIC of this thread... This phone looks kinda nice,
where can one get hold of it? How about it's * compatibility? I realize that
it says it does things like 3-way conference and attended transfers, but how
about in *?

Problems with yum/rpm and %pre scriptlet error 255
I am running xen (2.6.16-xen3_86.1_rhel4.1) on top of a stock CentOS-4.4

When trying to install (as root) acrobat reader 7 for Linux from the adobe

focus to tkwindow after a PDF window pop up
Dear All:
I currently have a TK window start a acroread window: However, when the
acroread window is open, I can't get back to the TK window unless I
close the acroead.
I invoked the acroread window using: system(paste("acroread ",file, sep=""))
anything I can do to make them both available to users?
Thanks
