System hang on Alienware 13 with NVIDIA GP106M
We've seen a number of power management and secboot issues with the Pascal-series mobile GPUs. Without a command line it is hard to debug remotely, but see, as one possible example: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=100228 Can you try booting with a kernel command line that includes "nouveau.runpm=0" as a debugging step. System hang on Alienware 13 with NVIDIA GP106M
I do not know how to debug this situation. Nothing appears in /var/log/messages. I miss the serial port:-( I executed a journalctl -r, and saw an error: kernel: nouveau 00001:01:00.0; Refused to change power state, currently in D3 The last message before reboot was: kernel: watchdog: Bug: soft lockup - CPU#0 stuck for 22s! System hang on Alienware 13 with NVIDIA GP106M
Alienware 17 r5 also with same graphics (GP106M and Intel 3e9b) does boot from same disk. I look in hwinfo --gfxcard and it says both the Intel (on i915) and the Nvidia (nouveau) are both present. What command tells me which driver is being used? Thanks. Don

newbe guidance for Alienware 13
I had desire for a light laptop, so purchased an Alienware 13. I am currently unable to display on the external monitor, leaving me with the small 13" display. I am ignorant of how to proceed. I assume the Nouveau driver is being used, but am not sure. I it Intel or Nouveau? When I boot the following appears in dmesg: nouveau: detected PR support, will not use DSM nouveau

missing firmware report
I just built a linux-4.18.7 kernel from kernel.org for opensuse linux 42.3. Intel Skylake Server
CentOS 6.9 has support for the Haswell processor which is a subset of the Skylake. All Skylake server ancillary components work perfectly with CentOS 6.9. The AST2500 used with the Skylake is very good and will process UHD. However this is not backwards compatible with legacy variants. To make it work an ancillary graphics card is required which is less than $100. This will not break the

Intel Skylake Server
Hello, I have a pre-production Intel Skylake server using dual 8176 processors (28 core @2.1Ghz) I have loaded from the DVD distribution CentOS 7.3 and RHEL 7.4 with no problems. When I try and load CentOS 6.9 the boot process hangs just as the Anaconda graphics is started for CentOS configuration. If I use a secondary graphics card then the process completes with no problems and CentOS boots

CentOS 6.9 Skylake soft error
Hello, I have an Intel NUC6i5 (Skylake i5-6260u processor) running CentOS 6.9 and there are no real problems. However during boot an error occurs in dmesg where a PCH unknown device 0x9d48 is logged. How can I get rid of this error output? Thank you, Mark

CentOS 6.9 Skylake soft error
You need at least a newer kernel. If you like you can try out http://elrepo.org/tiki/tiki-index.php <http://elrepo.org/tiki/tiki-index.php> With 3.10 I?m personal unsure kernel-lt-3.10.104-1.el6.elrepo.x86_64.rpm <http://elrepo.reloumirrors.net/kernel/el6/x86_64/RPMS/kernel-lt-3.10.104-1.el6.elrepo.x86_64.rpm> But got here centos with 4.11.3 running quiet well.

Intel Skylake
Hello, There was a support issue with the Intel Skylake and CentOS 6.* where the graphics hardware was not supported. Intel have now come up with a software solution to support the AST2500 graphics hardware on the Skylake. Skylake Installs on CentOS-7
We were informed that many people were having issues on newer intel (Skylake) platforms installing the latest CentOS-7 and asked if we could find/fix the problem. We found that the latest kernel, kernel-3.10.0-327.10.1.el7, fixes this issue on some machines, so we rebuilt the installer for people having issues. Please see this mail for the new isos:

LLVM and Xeon Skylake v5
Hi, I have a JIT compiler using the legacy JIT on LLVM 3.5 that, when run on the Xeon v5 Skylakes produces "Cannot select: intrinsic %llvm.x86.sse41.round.sd". Note, this does not occur on i7 Kabylakes. To get this far I had to disable AVX512 code gen. Upgrading the system I am looking at from 3.5 to a later version is a big job that I'd prefer not to have on my critical path.
