known_hosts vulnerability?
Hey all,
I came across a security news article, referenced by
http://www.linux.org/news, at
http://www.techworld.com/security/news/index.cfm?NewsID=3668
talking about an SSH weakness involving the known_hosts file. I
apologize if this issue has already been addressed, but the mailing list
archives didn't turn up anything when i tried searching for something
relevant. So; not to knee-jerk or

Problem with Notes on Debian Wine
For a while now I have had a problem running Notes on Debian Wine. Most of
the time it runs just fine, but whenever I try to open a mail document which
has an attachment Notes just terminates.
I have the log and the relevant bit seems to say:-
err:syslevel:_CheckNotSysLevel Holding lock 0x41311700 level 3
wine: Unhandled exception (thread 0009), starting debugger...

Change user SID on Samba 4.1
I had troubles with classicupgrade and linux machines, and i'm creating a
new AD (for now works perfect). I want to keep the same SID of the old AD
to avoid to move all users profiles.
Greetings!!

Winamp security hole
Hello, some of you might consider this to be OT but I think it's
important enough to warrant telling people.
" A "highly critical" hole in one of the most-used pieces of software
in the world means that audio files will be music to hackers' ears.
The ubiquitous WinAmp program - used to play a huge range of media
files - can provide someone with system access

Can xen pv drivers take profit from this ?
Hello,
some have maybe heard of the GPL dirvers for KVM.
See:
http://www.techworld.com.au/article/316219/red_hat_open_sources_windows_virtualisation_drivers
Is there any profit that Xen can get from this ?
Matthieu.

Local privilege escalation bug in kernel
Do we know if this bug affects Centos?
http://www.techworld.com.au/article/413300/linux_vendors_rush_patch_privilege_escalation_flaw_after_root_exploits_emerge
The article states that it affects kernel 2.6.39 and above, but since RH
backports so much stuff I'm not sure if this would actually include the Centos
kernels.

OpenWengo + Asterisk?
OpenWengo has just released WengoPhone v2.1.0:
http://www.openwengo.org/index.php/openwengo/public/homePage/news?payload[newsId]=0 . Has anyone had success (or notable failures) using it as a client for Asterisk? Any advice on integrating it into dialplan, apps, config DBs, etc?

Sparse matrix methods
Does anyone know of contributions to R for solving sparse linear systems?
In particular for spatial stats I am interested in solving large
positive definite symmetric systems.
Thanks in advance,
Doug

Fwd: Re: [Olpc-open] XO review & Theora
As far as video playback is concerned, it seems to mostly come down to
how the video is compressed - although Gnash (the open flash player)
still has a ways to go to play flash media as well as the closed source
flash players.
For the Colingo activity and library, we've found it very difficult to
find optimum settings for flash and instead have decided to go with
Theora. We've managed to

How to delete mails in the mailq in ONE DAY -- POSTFIX
I am runnig posfix on Centos 4.4 as a Mailgateway. It only accepts mails for
domains and then forwards mails to Lotus domino Server.
All clients sends outgoing mails to that Lotus domino Server. Then , That
Lotus Domino Server sends mails to Postfix mailgateway. This postfix
mailgateway sends mails to all the destinations. But, This Postfix
mailgateway has about 150 messages in the mailq. Some

OT: long - Replacing CD's? was RE: New type of copy-prot ected audio CDs are coming...
It won't be long until big labels attempt to eliminate the digital
ins and outs of equipment. The problem they face is most people
that currently use a rack system featuring digital interconnects will
NEVER revert to an analog only system. I know that I won't!
Think back to VHS, BetaMax, SVHS and LaserDisc.
VHS has incredible market share because its licensing is open.

LDAP Authentication to Lotus Domino?
Has anybody done any authentication to Lotus Domino using LDAP?
I selected LDAP options in the "authconfig-tui" application, per the
documentation here:
http://www.centos.org/docs/5/html/Deployment_Guide-en-US/s1-ldap-pam.html
when I try to query the directory for user information though, I get
no results using the ldapsearch command

RoR authentication with IBM Notes/Domino
This is a very simple authentication system for a Ruby on Rails server in
the same internet domain. It will allow you to get back the username of the
person hitting your server provided they already have authenticated with an
IBM Lotus/Domino or Websphere server that uses multi-server based session
authentication.
IBM Domino/Websphere authentication works by placing an encrypted cookie for

Changing SID on Windows boxes (plug)
This sounds like an advertisement, but I've got nothing to gain. Just
thought you might like to know about this.
If you're cloning a bunch of Windows boxes, you'll have a problem with
SID's... they'll all be the same. That's a bad thing. Maybe you have a need
to change a SID... perhaps a dual-boot box where you want the computer names
and IP addresses to be the same. This
