MySQL patch + Debian
Hi folks. Sorry to post here about a patch that hasn't been officially integrated into Dovecot, however I am trying to get it going and seem to have hit a dead end. I downloaded the Debianised source for Dovecot (0.99.10-9) from sarge: > wedge:/usr/local/src# apt-get -t testing source dovecot then applied the latest MySQL patch that I could find on the list: >

Dear R Users, I have a couple of proto objects like: wedge <- proto(expr={ start.year <- 2008 end.year <- 2050 }) star.rating <- wedge$proto( star = c(4, 5, 8, 10), gain = c(0, .3, .5, .7), cost = c(0, 2100, 4000, 7500), star.rating <- function(., year) 6.0, setup = function(.){ .$cost.for.star <- approxfun(.$star,

[OT] What file can I use to change Ubuntu 9.10 display characteristics?
This question is vaguely related to R in that I have managed to wedge the netbook computer that I use for demonstrations of R and I would like to know how to un-wedge it so I can continue to give lectures about R. I have an ASUS eee PC running the netbook-remix version of Ubuntu 9.10. The X server in 9.10 is a little different from earlier versions in that it does not require an explicit

How to nicely display R code with the LaTeX package 'listings'?
Dear expeRts, What's a 'good' (nice-looking, easy-to-read) setup for the LaTeX package 'listings' to display R code? The two versions below are partly inspired by the settings of the package SweaveListingUtils and http://r.789695.n4.nabble.com/R-How-to-format-R-code-in-LaTex-documents-td816055.html Any suggestions, comments, or improvements are welcome. Cheers, Marius ###

Irregular 3d objects with rgl
Hello, While exploring if rgl is along the lines of what I need, I checked out demo("rgl") and didn't find quite what I'm looking for, and am therefore seeking additional help/suggestions. The application is geared towards displaying a 3D rendering of a contaminant plume in the subsurface with the following highlights: Once the plume was rendered as a 3D object, a

A little more on this puppetmaster thing
So one of the behaviors that seems to wedge puppetmasterd is if you re-initialize a client, the example here being that I installed an older version of puppet on a bunch of machines to test out how things work: * at some point in the past install older rev of puppet - client regiesters itself with the server, etc. - works fine. * recently, remove the old puppet in favor of a new version that

group sequential analysis - stopping for futility
Hello - I am wondering if anyone has written some R code to calculate futility bounds for a group sequential analysis of clinical trials data. The library ldbounds has a function 'bounds' which calculates the effectiveness stopping bounds for various spending functions, but it does not appear to do the same for futility (sometimes called the 'inner wedge'). Thanks for

fxp multicast forwarding problems
Hi, Whilst doing some QA work on XORP on my desktop, which has fxp0 and msk0, fxp0 got totally hosed. I was running PIM-SM and IGMPv2 router-mode on the box at the time. I wonder if this is related to the problems with fxp multicast transmission I saw back in April. I'm a bit concerned about this as fxp is still a very widespread and useful network chip. I am running

ices and stdin module?
I'm trying to wedge an input filter in front of ices (latest nightly from 5/5), and if I'm using the 'stdinpcm' input module, ices segfaults on me after a few seconds. I'm running on FreeBSD-4.8. Here's the relevant section of my config file: <input> <module>stdinpcm</module> <param

RemoteForward and dynamically allocated listen port
Specifying a RemoteForward of 0:example.com:1234 dynamically allocates the listen port on the server, and then reports it to ... the client! Where it is practically useless. Was this someone's idea of a joke? Presumably not--there are some technical obstacles to reporting it to the remote process. I'd like to help solve that problem. The natural way to me would be to extend the syntax

Re: Prey and OpenGL
Hello again. Since my last post about giving up on Prey I have had to change my graphics card. The cooling fan on my ATI packed up and it was a choice of a new fan/heatsink combination and having to nearly rebuild my pc to allow room for it (nearly the size of my card and over 1 inch thick !) or replacing the card. Since I thought that the fan problem might be the thin end of the wedge and I might

100% CPU freeze on read of large files with --sparse
Hello, While restoring a large data backup which contained some big sparse-ish files, using rsync 3.1.1, (these were VMDK files to be precise), I found that adding the --sparse option can permanently wedge the rsync processes. I performed a few basic checks during the time it happened (at one point I left it a few days so I suspect it can last more or less forever). * strace didn't show
