Wayne and twin
Hi,
I haven't seen recent information on wine and twain.
I already sent a similar mail to wine-users and, in a second step to
wine-devel, but without any information back until now.
May be the trick "Wine and twain" to "Wayne and twin" will give me more
chance to be listen. Or may be my question is really stupid?

Wine and USB scanner access ?
Hi,
I'm using latest Wine (20050310) with Debian sid (kernel 2.6.11).
I own an USB 1.1 scanner : Agfa SnapScan 1212U.
I successfully installed ScanWise software provided by the vendor (2.0.0.9 version) but when I
launch it, it behaves as if the scanner's light wasn't on, or it was unplugged : it asks for me to
connect the scanner.
Below is the debugging info. I also tried to

Connection problems and weird WinSock warnings...
Hiya,
I've posted this 'enigma' on the newsgroup :
http://groups-beta.google.com/group/comp.emulators.ms-windows.wine/browse_thread/thread/57dcb7531ebfb529/65018c77a5e58651#65018c77a5e58651
The answers were pretty rare so I post the problem here, too.

Vegas Video 4 installer
Hi,
I'm trying to install Vegas Video 4 (the installer is a single big .exe)
but it fails right at the beginning with an "Unhandled exception".
I'm under debian/sid, I tried both winehq.org's binaries and CVS with no
luck. I'm pasting the log at the end of the mail.

winword2000 has pipe problems
High dears,
I just do my first step on wine on SuSE8.2 and Wine 20030508, installed
from new rpm for SuSE.
First I have installed the Office2000 with that command:
Office2000 Prem> wine --dll cabinet=n --debugmsg +loaddll setup.exe
hat it seems to be work: I have got the messages "restart your Computer".
After that I start
wine notepad
only to see if wine is still working

On the way towards scanning - further hints?
I have an USB scanner which is working well and has been long supported
in Linux now (Agfa Snapscan 1212U).
But I can't get scanning to work in Wine, where I have installed three
applications which should be able to scan (and which are running fine
otherwise):
ABBYY FineReader 7.0 (OCR)
Irfanview 4.10 (image viewer)
Photoshop CS (of course, Photoshop).

Can't Get Internet Explorer Help to Work After July "Snapshot"
My main project is to get a video capture and editing application, Edit
Studio 4, working in wine. As I was testing it, I discovered that it
requires the help engine of Internet Explorer to implement its help
functions. The following discussion describes what happens or happened
today and in the July snapshot of wine.
I used Mike Hearns "install-ie6.sh" script" to install

I upgrade to the latest wine 1.3.7 and that doesn't make any difference. I uninstalled wine and re-installed it , but to no avail.

winspool error
I am using Mandrake 9.0 and wine-20021125.
The program in question installed with no apparent problems. A lot of the program works correctly, however, I get to a point that gives an error.
I ran the program with --debugmsg +loaddll options. I also line numbered the output and I included all output.
On line 11 it loads winspool.drv but on line 41 it can not find winspool.drv.
Any ideas on how to

SecureCRT and Wine 0.9.4
Hi,
I installed Wine 0.9.4 package for Suse 10 and configured it with WineTools 0.9.3jo. Internet
Explorer 6 and other Windows software installs and run fine. I have a problem running SecureCRT
(version 5.0.0 and 5.0.4). I used the suggestion found in the application DB, i.e. installing with
version=winxp and run it with version=win98. The installation run fine but when I run the

'Setup cannot find necessary files' message
Running Wine 1.0.1 in Ubuntu 9.10, trying to install FileMaker Pro 9 from CD. (Install from this CD works fine on Windows machine.)
'Setup cannot find necessary files' message appears when launching setup.exe with Wine.
WINEDEBUG=+loaddll on setup.exe gives the output below; looks like all needed .dlls are there.
Same problem reported on Ubuntu forums earlier in 2009 by another user:
