Printing, Control Panel & Win3x app
Hi, I've been using a legacy Windows 3x application, WordStar for Windows, with Wine for a long time. I recently installed a beta release of Wine compiled for Mandriva Linux (2006.0) - 0.9.22, and a number of problems have occurred with the program. The most critical problem is that WordStar for Windows won't print (it printed from the alpha Wines). I get the error message: "No

Wine on Fedora Core 4: Street Atlas 8 & wineconsole issues
I just did a fresh installation of Fedora Core 4, using my home directories from FC3, including my .wine. In the FC3 environment, I had used winetools to install. I did not want to do a fresh installation of wine, just use an RPM that would work. Alas, I had to fall back to 20041201. SA 8: I installed and uninstalled wine-20050524-1fc3winehq.athlon.rpm, wine-20050310-1fc3winehq.athlon.rpm

Delorme Street Atlas 8 and ISO images
Being lazy, I'd just as soon not be swapping CDs in and out of the CD drive to use Street Atlas 8. So I slurped the SA 8 data CD into an ISO image, which I then mount as a loopback device. I created a symlink in ~/.wine/dosdevices, s: (and it took me a while to get the syntax for that right :-). winefile and fn.exe (http://www.charlescurley.com/fn.html) have no problems with the iso image. I

Street Atlas 8.0 Extractor
I mentioned earlier that I had DeLorme Street Atlas 8.0 working on wine. It comes with a separate program, the extractor. This will pull parts of the map CD and store them locally so that the main program does not have to refer to the CD for those parts of the map. I had one problem which I overcame: it was looking for h:\refnc. I have no idea why it was looking on h:, as the CD-ROM is on d: and

Can I use Wine to Run the Scan Function of a HP Officejet 4215?
Hello, I have been trying to use the scan function of my HP Officejet 4215 by invoking sane. And that is not working. As an alternative, I hope I could run Wine as Windows XP and read in the HP cd that came with my printer to setup the printer and the scan function. Right now the printer works. It prints, copies, scans (using HP Director) and faxes and scan under Windows XP. Under

Access Database SLOW
I've got a user that wants an Access database shared out. I've got a decent machine serving out the directory (300 MHz Pentium II) running RedHat 5.0 (kernel 2.0.34) with Samba 1.9.17p4 (RPM is samba-1.9.17p4-3). I've created a simple share entry in the smb.conf file: [global] debug level = 1 browsable = yes comment = Samba under Linux (RedHat 5.0) domain master = yes

Controlling Cisco 7960 Ringtone from Asterisk
I'm trying to change the ring tone on my 7960 from the dialplan. I've tried the example on the wiki but it doesn't seem to work. Something like: exten => 3010,1,SetVar(ALERT_INFO=<Bellcore-dr1>) ; selects Ringer exten => 3010,2,Dial(SIP/3010,15) I'm not sure what the Bellcore-dr1 ringer is supposed to be. I've tried replacing ALERT_INFO with another ring tone

smbstatus show open files when none are
I recently (a few weeks ago) installed 1.9.18p8 in order to get better performance with an Access Database, which along with adding a TCP_NODELAY in the [global] section has that working like a charm. Thing that's bugging me now is smbstatus. When I run it I see open files listed when I know that they aren't. The following output shows quite a few files open that aren't really. The

Re: SYSLINUX Digest, Vol 33, menu.c32 chaining
Hello, many of our platforms do not have a integrated floppy, some even don''t have a floppy controller. As pxelinux still has a problem with machines without a floppy in combination with some bios versions I need to chainload a different bootstrap loader which works on the floppyless platforms. But I also need to load a BartPE and the other BS loader does not support that. So I tried to

Best R text editors?
Quick informal poll: what is everyone's favorite text editor for working with R? I'd like to hear from people who are using editors that have some level of direct R interface (e.g. Tinn-R, Komodo+SciViews). Thanks! --j -- Jonathan A. start_form_tag n00b question
Hi, I''m wondering if there is any way to specify the id of a form tag with the start_form_tag helper. I''ve tried playing around with ", id=>"marginForm" " and also inclosing both the action variable and id variable in curley brackets. The Rails API doesn''t off much help for a n00b like me. It''s probably really easy but any help you guys

Ruby on Rails: Talk | Google Groups
This is more an architectural question.... I am looking to create a domain that sells widgets (as an example) widgets.com Now I have three sales reps, that each sell different kinds of widgets, and do not need to know about each other. larry.widget.com moe.widget.com curley.widget.com I don''t want to repeat myself (of course!) with the shopping cart logic or the transactional

replacing joe
Morning everybody, I am still using good old joe editor on my CentOS machines although it is no longer included in the CentOS repositories. Is there any comparable "wordstar" compatible editor that is part of the standard distribution? And no, I don't want to use Emacs. :-) best regards --- Michael Schumacher
