DC++ 0.668 - Annoying "tooltips"
Hello there ?
There were folks in the recent time running DC++ on wine. I'm also one of
them, and I have a small problem, which turns out to be very annoying. The
action buttons at the top of the main DC++ window as well as tabs at the
bottom tend to show "tooltips" containing information about the last files
to be hashed. However, there is an error somewhere that these tooltip

Regression in wine-20011226 ?
Hi!
It's a pitty but I have to report that two programs which worked with the previous
(November) wine release don't work anymore.
The first one is a front panel for the measuring instrument, which worked perfectly
after the serial handshake fixes but now (from about Dec 19) it crashes.
The second one is a Nokia Logo Manager. It was not too useful for other wine problems
but it at

An app stopped working after upgrading wine
Hi!
I have a problem with current wine (from CVS). An application, Dynatext DOC
browser from EBT, stopped working. It just opens a dialog box saying that the
DYNATEXT.INI file was not found and that it has to be either in the windows
directory or in the Dynatext directory. I verified it and it really is in the
Dynatext directory, as it used to always be, it's readable and its contents is
OK.

Anybody running VirtualDub ?
Hi!
I just tried to run VirtualDub 1.5.10 with current wine from CVS.
The program runs, but when the video playback is started (or even the video
file is just loaded), all the screen except the window with the first video
frame goes black. The video is played properly. All is alive and well,
underlying windows/icons are there and they react on the mouse, windows can
be moved (if You find their

Command line trash ?
Hi!
I'm attempting to start setup.exe from office97 package.
The installer starts but then bails out with the dialog
Wrong parameters on the command line: "
(see the unpaired double quote) and then pops another dialog
with its usage, then exits.
I'm calling it just with wine setup.exe, no quotes nor
other characters there. I was trying to compensate this character
by putting one

DC++ crashes with current CVS wine
Hi!
I have a problem, that DC++ client now crashes in wine. The problem is that it
crashes using its own exception handler, from the wine's point of view the app
is running OK. The client simply pops up a dialog box saying that it just
crashed and the debug info is placed in a file called exceptioninfo.txt. OK, the
file is really there and it really shows something important:
Code: c0000005

Wine segfaulting
Hi!
I just tried to install an older app from its CD and I've got immediate
segfault. When run with --debugmsg +relay, the following was output:
(of course just the end of a very long dump)

A problem reading configuration file
Hi!
For some time, there is a regression in wine, which disables my Dynatext
reader from working. It tries to open it's configuration file but
unsuccessfully. The file IS there and former wine versions allowed the
program to read it.
I was recommended to do a regression tests to find a particular patch
but it's too time-expensive for me these days, so I did a full trace
and found an

Wine and AMD 64 in Suse 9.3
Hi.
I have to use a comercial Windows software in my work, called Cosilab.
Last two months I was using Debian and wine 0.9.1 and everything went
perfect. The
Program works fine under wine and I haven't got any problems.
Now I've updated my computer to an AMD64 with 2Ghz Processor and I do
not know if the
problem with wine is caused by the 64 bits processor or why...
I try to run the

Problems with serial comm
Hi!
I'm new to this list as well to Wine, so please excuse me if I'm asking a FAQ.
Today I installed wine-20011108, especially to be able to run programs I need
for my work.
One of them is a remote front panel to the measuring instrument, which
communicates with it using a modem connection.
This program cannot establish a connection. It accesses the modem, its LEDs
blink, but no

wine and radmin - two problems
Hi!
In my current occupation, it's necessary to access a lot of windows machines
remotely. All they have a radmin ( http://www.radmin.com ) server installed.
I would like to access them from my Linux box, so I've installed a windows
radmin client on the box and tried to use it.
The first impressions were great, because it installed perfectly (I didn't
attempt to install the server,

A bug in openssh-2.2.0-p1
Hello!
Today I've found, downloaded and compiled openssh-2.2.0-p1. It basically worked, except that users
other than root were not allowed to login. My system is a Linux-2.4.0-test7 with glibc-2.1.3. No PAM
is installed/used. It uses MD5 passwords and shadow with account expiration feature.
In handling of the latter, a probable bug was found. In auth.c, allowed_user(), there is a

Running console apps
Hi!
I'm trying to run a program which requires the win console (i.e. it doesn't
run from DOS).
I can't run it from wineconsole - there is a new window opened, there is a
big fat cursor in it, which moves sometimes but nothing remains written.
I have also some old DOS programs, which also cannot be run under wineconsole.
In such a case, stderr fills with a message saying that

Tunnel freezing
Hi!
I hope this list a good place for my question - I've googled for it first,
but I didn't find any answers.
I'm trying to use the new ssh IP tunnel feature to get a secure access to
my machine at work, which is behind a firewall/NAT but it has a ssh port
in outbound direction open.
The problem is that the tunnel freezes occasionally, mostly in one direction
only. The freeze

Program cannot find COM ports
Hi!
I have a problem running original Siemens Mobile Phone Update program.
It starts but writes "No COM ports available" and then quits.
I have my ports correctly configured but I didn't find any attempt to
use them by the program (with WINEDEBUG=all). However, I've found an attempt
to use the key "Hardware\\DeviceMap\\SerialComm", which is not present in

What's up ?
Hi!
I already asked once but got no reply so I'm trying again...
For some time, it seems that there is something seriously broken here.
Any windows dialog box pops up either without anything witten in it,
just the symbol (like yellow triangle with an exclamation mark) being
drawn, or there is something written, but the buttons which are normally
there (Yes/No, OK/Cancel...) are missing at

Trainz Railroad Simulator: font problem
Hello,
I would like to ask, whether anybody there is running Trainz Railroad
Simulator game.
I've successfully installed the game from its CD, but I have problem to
run it, because its texts are mostly not displayed.
It's a Czech (localized) version of the game. It starts properly, but in
its menus, there are no texts, except some lonely characters (underscore,
some accented Czech
