floppy disk controller broken
Hello,
when testing FreeBSD-7.1-BETA i discovered that the floppy disk
controller doesn't work correctly. Trying to format a floppy (perhaps
with bad blocks) i get:
Processing fdformat: ioctl(FD_FORM): Device not configured
instead of the normal E letter. I then checked the same problem is
present on FreeBSD-6.3 and it has been reported by Beech Rintoul (*) in
2006! Of course the floppy disk

Dataframe is character
Hi everybody,
Question: why are my dataframe and numeric variables a character?
I read an excel file via readxl but my dataframe is a character, and
numeric variables, eg "yi", are also a character.
My excelfile is in English numeric
Sometimes the dataframe was indeed a dataframe, but I do not know why it

Thank you in advance, Roberto
PS I used "guess". The

gluster store and autostart - but fails
hi all
I've a few guest which work/run perfectly fine, I believe,
except for autostart.
Configuration of system, gluster and libvirt is pretty
regular and not complex.

question regarding smbutil
Hello,
I'm trying to use smbutil with the user/pass/host argument.
I have no problem using it this way....
smbutil -v view //user@host
Password: *******
but if I try this way....
smbutil -v view //user:pass@host
it prompts me for a password when I already specific it in my command line.
Am I using the right syntax? Please let me know. Thanks.

Dovecot SSL issue on Solaris 10 x64 (64-bit)
I'm having an issue with Thunderbird (and Opera) and Dovecot SSL on a
Solaris 10.
My OS is Solaris 10 6/06 x86 (running in 64-bit mode) using ZFS (disk
mirror) as the
filesystem for my users. Dovecot version is 1.0rc7 (logs below are from
1.0rc6).
First the connection asks if the SSL-certificate should be accepted,
accepting it
seems to work but then nothing happens. Thunderbird is

Help please. WINE suddenly quits.
Hi everyone,
I am running ubuntu 5.10 (Breezy) and have the latest version of wine
installed (from winehq). The application I'm having trouble with is
Filemaker Pro 8.
It installed without any problems. It opens without any problems.
Everything looks normal. I can create a new database and open an
existing one. Both work.
However after a short period of experimenting (just generally

Ess packages for Suse-9.2 available ?
Hi,
I've just managed to install R on Suse-9.2. Unfortunately there seem to
be no Ess packages in Suse distri available. Doesn't seem like that Suse
is ever to integrate these packages (since 2000)!?
Are there any precompiled binaries around? So far I haven't been lucky
to find any of them on rpmfind and similar sites.
Maybe someone has already Ess binary for Suse-9.2 and is willing

FreeBSD 9.2 ahci under Parallels VM
Hi,
I am trying to setup a FreeBSD 9.2 under Parallels and I find that I have to tell it to present IDE disks instead of SATA ones otherwise it gets timeouts probing for the disks.
Is there some debugging I can enable to gather more information?

rails & gems 0..9.2 problem
Got a slight issue with a rails plugin I wrote. when I updated to gems
0.9.2, there is some combination of what is happening in rails and gems
that is slightly changing what my array#pack(''c'') it returning. I
haven''t quite dug deep into this yet, but the plugin that I wrote works
with binary data, when I introduce gems 0.9.2 with rails 1.2.3 I get

9.2-RC1 laptop lid cover problem
Hello :-)
On my Dell Latitude D620 I have a bla(c/n)k screen after I close
display and open it again. I cannot use this machine anymore as it was
working on plaintext console (no xorg). What should I do to make
screen return after display is closed and opened again? Should I load
apm module or something similar or is this the display driver problem?
Best regards,
Tomek

Asterisk under SUSE 9.2/VMWARE 5.5.1
Hi everybody
I'm trying to make Asterisk 1.2.1 run under VMWARE and Suse 9.2.
I use ZTDUMMY module for timing and ZTTEST gets an average precision of 98,4 %.
Is there any way to improve it?
Best regards
Mauro Zanin
