Nut fsd command ignored: bcmxcp_usb driver, Powerware 5105 UPS
Hi
I'm having a problem with the bcmxcp_usb driver FSD command: everything
seems to work apart from:
upsmon -c fsd
Environment: Ubuntu 7.04, nut 2.0.5-1, nut-usb 2.0.5-1, Powerware 3105
UPS.
upsd appears to send the FSD command to the UPS, upsmon then runs my
NOTIFYCMD (which halts my PC) but the UPS just doesn't turn off.
Here are the /var/log/daemon.log entries:

NUT not shutting down one of three UPSs (sometimes none of them shut down)
I have three APC SmartUPS 5000s. Two of them are AP9617 and one is AP9619.
I have a RS-232 connections from my monitor host to all three. All three
report status and give information.
One of the two AP9617 - ups3-1 - does not shut down when FSD is sent. It
did when I first set this system up a year or two ago but it's stopped
doing so since then. Resetting the management interface does not

NUT clients - merits of authenticating
Hi,
I'd like to better understand the merits of NUT clients (slaves) properly authenticating with the NUT server (master).
NUT allows clients to retrieve UPS status (upsc ups at 10.10.10.1) without authenticating, shutdowns are properly trigger via polling.
From testing one apparent benefit of authenticating is the client receives the shutdown event more quickly rather than the polling

upsmon+snmp-ups does not shut down system
I've googled and RTFM'ed, but still can't solve this one. I hope you folks can.
This affects my entire computer cluster, but let's start simple: I've got a
computer running NUT; OS is Scientific Linux 5.5; kernel 2.6.18-274.12.1.el5xen.
It connects to an APC SMART-UPS via an APC SmartCard using the snmp-ups driver.
It generally works: upsmon will detect if the battery is low

Issue with slave FSD notification on Windows port of NUT
I have the latest version of the Windows port of NUT installed on my Windows?7?machine. The UPS is connected via serial cable to the Windows machine. I also have my Synology NAS (which uses NUT) connected over the local network as a slave to the Windows NUT master. The Synology slave is configured to immediately go into "safe mode" whenever an FSD or OB+LB indication is received from the

Can't get NUT slave to connect to master
Hi thanks Roger. Well I'm just using Ubuntu Server 16.04 LTS
I only ran that command as a few guides say that's how to establish if a
daemon is compiled with tcp wrappers:
https://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/tcp-wrappers-hosts-allow-deny-tutorial/
I haven't really used TCP wrappers before so I'm not even sure if my
hosts.allow entries are correct:
upsd : ipaddressofclientgoeshere

Can't get NUT slave to connect to master
Try ALL:ALL in /etc/hosts.allow temporarily. If that still doesn't work, it's likely something else. If it does, only then screw with creating narrow rules . . .

UPS does not want to power off itself
Greetings!
I have successfully installed and configured nut package. All i want now
is to power off ups. If i run upsmon -c fsd as root - everything goes
fine, system and ups gracefully shutting down. If i unplug power cable
from an ups, then system is down, but ups still on load. Any help would
be appreciated.

upsset.cgi doesn't check that user/password is valid, it just tries it
when doing a command.
I just tested it, it is working for me on a remote and

Why are files synced again and again when not using -a?
Hi,
usually I use rsync with -a but recently I used it without this option and
discovered that the same files are synced over and over again (as shown by
-v). Of course the rsync algorithm avoids the traffic but the files are all
listed.
As soon as I use -a for one time those files are not transferred again, even
when I remove the -a again.
So I suspect, when building the file list, rsync

Can't get NUT slave to connect to master
Hi thanks Roger,
I've amended my hosts.allow file to your suggested one - thanks for that.
I'm still getting "Connection refused on the client cgi screen as well as
in the shell it gives me UPS upsname at ipaddresshere is unavailable...
Any ideas what I can try next to debug why it's not working. Also should
the "allowfrom = clientIPaddresshere" line be in my monuser

Can't get NUT slave to connect to master
Hi thanks for helping.
I don't think nut is built with TCP wrappers support, although the package
is listed as depending on libwrap...
I ran this command: ldd /sbin/upsd | grep libwrap.so
and it has returned no output.
Does this mean I have to compile from source or is there a way to add the
tcp wrapper support?
Thanks again.
