Dovecot, IMAP, and mutt
Hello, I'm running FreeBSD 6.0 release on x86 hardware and am using mutt version 1.5.11. Not running dovecot on/over NFS or anything, just the standard UFS2 filesystem. I'm also using SSL for IMAP. Since dovecot 1.0.b8, I've had to instruct mutt to do things twice (such as deleting) before the changes will actually occur. I've confirmed that this does not happen with dovecot

How to install tp_smapi and acpi_call kernel modules
Thanks for your answer. tlp and tlp-rdw are already installed from epel. But these packages miss that kernel modules. So when I want these I have to add the repo and replace $release in the mirror url with 21 of fedora, right? Am 7. How to install tp_smapi and acpi_call kernel modules
Hello, I've got a Thinkpad T420 and would like to use full tlp functionality. Therefore I need the kernel module tp_smapi and acpi_call. Have a look right here: http://linrunner.de/en/tlp/docs/tlp-linux-advanced-power-management.html#installation There are only fedora related packages but none for RHEL/CentOS. Should I install that repo and hardcode the mirror to the fc21 repo? Regards Tim

WINE on FreeBSD: Dark 3D applications
Hello WINE users, From time to time I use WINE to play games such as Max Payne and recently Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. However, for some reason both games (or any 3D game, I imagine) appear to be very dark. The in-game brightness either has very little noticeable effect or none at all. I'm running FreeBSD 6.0-BETA4 and WINE 20050830 with an nVidia GeForce 4 MX 440 and the official

Starcraft crashes
I have used Starcraft under wine for a long time, and I have just learned to put up with random crashes. The only version of wine I have gotten to work is ancient (991212)! I have tried more recent versions, but I haven't been able to get them running at all. Is there a wine that doesn't crash randomly running starcraft? What wine do you use for starcraft? (BTW, there seems to be a

I've got an Allwell set-top box (http://www.gctglobal.com/Products/Set_Top_Box/set_top_box_0.html) connected to my entertainment center (stereo + TV) running a 2.4.17 kernel. I'm eagerly looking forward to running Boss Ogg (http://bossogg.sourceforge.net/) on it to play my music collection encoded in FLAC. World of Warcraft freezes and stutters periodically
Hi, When I load World of Warcraft the CPU jumps from an average of 10-15% up to 100% and stays there pretty constantly whilst playing. This doesn't seem to affect gameplay most of the time (and I understand it may be relatively normal behaviour for running games under Wine), but occasionally I get a complete lock up of the game for about 3 seconds. The game screen freezes completely and the

5.5 kernel: using nouveau or something else just long enough to turn off Quadro RTX 4000 Mobile for hybrid graphics?
Howdy, So, I have a Thinkpad P70 with hybrid graphics. 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GM107GLM [Quadro M600M] (rev a2) that one works fine, I can use i915 for the main screen, and nouveau to display on the external ports (external ports are only wired to nvidia chip, so it's impossible to use them without turning the nvidia chip on). I now got a newer P73 also with the

stuttering in speex 1.1.11
Hi, I've been getting reports of stuttering audio in my VoIP application that uses Speex 1.1.11. Since I haven't had this report with previous versions of Speex I was wondering if one of the bug fixes in 1.1.12 solves a bug which causes the stuttering. To me the stuttering report sounds like the decoder state that speex uses gets messed up. Some info, I use the floating point version of

Initial tests with v1.3.8beta2 seem to solve the problem. Hey hope this opne is a "make senser". Has anyone tried the "Subject line" combo?, I''ve compiled a dozen src.rpm kernel 3.0 and 3.1 packages with no luck to try native upstream Dom0 kernel support with no success, just a kernel oops and constant reboots. I followed Fedora''s wiki on building a custom kernel, even used F16''s .config which also was a

Stuttering stream
> A good number have id3v2 tags... say 20-30%. Do you find that it's stuttering on id3v2 files? Since those contain data that is counted by the timing code, but not played the the player, that seems a likely suspect. Ie, you'll get _playable_ data too slow. Try a stream with _no_ id3v2 files and see if the problem persists. > > What version of linux? glibc? > > RH 7.2
