Strange
I tested shutdown by pulling the plug from the wall socket and observed that I was notgetting any notifications. ?Then I opened the NUT Monitor GUI and immediately got notified. What did I do wrong? ?I think that upsmon runs at startup so why do I have to open the GUI?in order to get messages? ? John?"Science is organized common sense. I did that by opening two?terminals, on I logged in as ' su ', and sent the message from there. ?Is that peculiar? Might account for why I am notgetting anything from

Who is the owner and group for wall? Note that it is set group ID to allow it to write to sessions . . . thus, that owner needs to be a system account that can write to devices, not just Joe-Bob . . . You might also try 'strace wall' to see what it is trying to do. - Tim On July 15, 2015 9:48:32 PM CDT, john hart <jsamcr at yahoo.com> wrote: >Tim, >Thanks for the feedback.

Any chance someone put 'mesg n' in the system profiles? That wou;d suppress wall output. NUT on Ubuntu Dapper
Hi list anyone having success with a working installation of NUT on Ubuntu Dapper from universe repository? I installed it via apt but it doesn't seem to work.../etc/nut is empty, I copied a working configuration from another machine (a Gentoo box) but when I try to start the ups-monitor or nut service, it simply dies silently. I'm using the snmp driver and, as said, other

Shutdown problem with Geek Squad GS1285U
Nut will monitor the ups and shutdown Linux when the ups goes to low battery as it should. But the UPS is not shut down so the system will restart when the power is restored. If I switch the UPS off , restore power and switch the UPS on the system will restart. I have not been able to get nut to switch the UPS off after it brings the system down. I can get the UPS to switch off with upscmd

This guy must be an idiot
OK, can someone tell me what utterly moronic thing I am doing wrong? I have two roughly identical Linux system running NUT, and one works properly. The other almost does. The second system works well once everything is up, but after booting, the system does not have connectivity to the UPS. I have to manually run `upsdrvctl start backup`, `/etc/init.d/nut start`, and `upsd` to get NUT

AsiumPower Asium P700 UPS
