Half-Life and Counter-Strike on WINE
FYI Both work great on my FC3, wine-20050419, 2.4 GHz box. Key changes to the ./tools/wineinstall $HOME/.wine/config file are as follows: "Managed" = "N" ; a significant change "UseXVidMode" = "N" "UseXRandR" = "N" ; a significant change "DXGrab" = "Y" "Synchronous" =

Softlinking to a dvd-drive with inconsistent mount points?
In Suse 9.2, it was easy to softlink to a drive from /home/username/.wine/dosdevices because the mount point for the drive was always the same. That is, /media/dvdrecorder was always where the disc would get mounted. NOW, with Suse 9.3, the mount point is /media/DISC_NAME. Since each disk has a different name, there is never a consistent mount point. So, I can't make Wine's

Can you reproduce this bug on wine-20050930 like me?
Can you reproduce this bug? Follow these steps: 1. Install Filezilla: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/filezilla/FileZilla_2_2_16_setup.exe?download 2. FTP into the server of your choice 3. Click and drag files from the server to your local machine (to copy them) 4. Realize now that even though the files have been copied to your machine, you are still dragging the files around If you can

Running a game in full screen mode?
UT2004 runs nearly flawlessly under Wine, and is about 10,000 times easier to install than its Linux counterpart. The only problem I'm having is running it full screen. What's the command for that? For example, is it something like: $wine UT2004.exe --full-screen I know --full-screen is the right option, so which is it? (Without editing the config file, or course.) :) Thanks! Hiji

HalfLife on latest CVS
Whilst bored I purchased HalfLife for Windows, having read people mention on Slashdot that it runs on Wine. I run Debian (woody) on an AMD Athlon 1.4GHz machine with 1Gb RAM as my desktop. It currently has a Voodoo3 video card, though I have a dual head Radeon which I'm going to use once I get a monitor that is compatible (my current monitor has a very wavy display with that card). I

Re: Sonar ??

The newest versions won't let it work. > Question is whether this > program is going backwards in some areas. That's a good question. Lately, a lot of stuff in Wine has been losing compatibility; I don't know if that's because

Halflife / Counterstrike (using Steam) does not work.
Hi, I'm using Gentoo Linux and Wine 0.9.1. I had no problem to install Steam, but Halflife and it's Mods like CS doesn't work. After starting the game through Steam, the background image appears, but there are no menu entrys and the App didn't reponse anymore. If I minimize CS and maximize it again, the background didn't get repainted. When having virtual desktop disabled

One VERY discouraged newbie...
After hearing all the rave about Half-Life/Counter-Strike on Wine I decided to take the plunge myself... after rpm -e the default OLD wine packages from my RH7.2 install I installed wine20011004 graciously provided by http://www.linux-easy.com/daily/ ... setup my ~/.wine/config and got VERY UPSET when Half-Life install would even work... barfing the folloowing message! :( [msowka@mainframe

Quake II - a modal problem?
I am running FC2 on a Dell 600SC, latest wine version. FYI:Quake II will run on machines with only 4 MB video cards and no OpenGL. It runs fine under Windoze. Under Wine it runs the "launching demo" well but then I have no keyboard or mouse control. I must force the power off to regain control. On Windoze one would hit the escape key at this point and a menu screen appears with

I built it with : # ./configure --prefix=/usr/wine --enable-opengl # make depend && make && make install Then I insert the halflife cdrom and do: # mount /mnt/cdrom # cd /mnt/cdrom # wine SETUP.EXE It loads up the Halflife install wizard (progressbar goes from 0 to

Something strange! Wine 1.10 doesn't want to delete stuff.
So, recentley I upgraded to the new 1.10 with apt, I am running 2.6.24-21-generic #1 SMP kernel, although I don't know why it thinks I have to have smp, I have a 2400+ sempron, my v-card is a 7300Gt nvidia. And after I upgraded, I shut it down and I went to bed. The next day, I tried to play WoW, everything was cool, no glitches, it ran noticeably faster, so I changed the graphics settings

Counter Strike Source rando quits, and that's pretty much it
I was very excited recently because for the first time in my attempts to get my windows games to work with wine I actually managed to install steam, counter strike source, and half life 1. And then it actually launched and everything seemed to be going so well but then I joined a server, and after a while counter strike just quit on me taking me back to the desktop. I haven't found anything

Wine on Counter Strike: Source
I've been at this for 2 months now, and I just cant get Counter Strike to work on my setup. I have Ubuntu 7.10 64 bit edition, an x1900xt video card with the latest drivers, and wine 0.9.58 (The last known version of wine compatible with Counter Strike Source). My drivers are installed correctly, and I've successfully installed Steam, and even Counter Strike 1.6, which works fine. When I
