Better way of streaming radio than "musiconhold" for Asterisk 17.4 ?
Thanks Dan - might have to scratch my head over that one for a while!
The phrase "you make your own RTP server" has made me all twitchy ;)

Better way of streaming radio than "musiconhold" for Asterisk 17.4 ?
Hi Jonathan,
I'd probably go down the external media route in the ARI now - you make
your own RTP server and provide your own RTP back to asterisk

Switching between Music on Hold streams. [13.8.2]
Thanks Joshua and everyone,
Joshua's solution seems a lot simpler and works well. Only one thing
now - The reason I named the classes as I did, was so that I could
select the class based on callerID plus extension.
Unless I've misread it, I'm limited to 9 switchable classes via the
"digit=#" option, is that correct?
Or is there a clever hack around this?

Switching between Music on Hold streams. [13.8.2]
Hi there;
I didn't see any "G" option in the example above, and the usage for
the option parameters is entirely undocumented at
https://wiki.asterisk.org/wiki/display/AST/Asterisk+13+Application_Dial
The G options are as below
G - If the call is answered, transfer the calling party to the
specified priority and the called party to the specified priority plus
one.

Switching between Music on Hold streams. [13.8.2]
I'd like multiple people to be able to dial in and listen to various
live radio streams.
I was told that the correct resource-friendly way would be to setup a
MoH class, and then select that from the dialplan.
This works well, but how do I switch between streams?
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but from previous similar questions a
few years ago it seems like once you've entered a

cloud solution?
So if someone has their own hardware and infrastructure but wants a software (not FreePBX but perhaps similar) what options do we have? Would like to virtualize it and not stuck with any one virtualization technology.
Discuss... :)

Something similar to Doxygen for standard dialplan?
Hi, thanks - that looks really good!
I was about to embark on some non-visual stuff using Ragic, but this
looks great.
Is there a binary anywhere, or any instructions to compile? I've never
compiled C# code before, and although a quick google suggests it
shouldn't be too hard, I might need to know a few things like what
version of .net it should be compiled with.
The readme just points

Any way of creating a file to write to from the dialplan, or must I use AGI?
That's just what I'm using, John.
But I'm getting (eg)

Old Asterisk forums not working
Hello!
https://forums.asterisk.org/ is doing it again - "Content Encoding Error.
An error occurred during a connection to forums.asterisk.org. Please
contact the website owners to inform them of this problem".
Which is odd, as the Qualys test seems to pass, only losing a point for
supporting TLS 1.0. But I know it's not just me because Pingdom can't read
the page, either.

Integration of Google Speech API V2
Hi Jonathan
Thanks !
That would indeed be wonderful, at this point I really do not care whether
I need to use Python or Lua or JS.
I was following http://zaf.github.io/asterisk-speech-recog/
but hit a road end with (for the lack of sane word ) copulating Google's Key

can't "yum install mplayer" : no libmpcdec.so.3 available
Just upgraded to 5.4 yesterday morning. (Kudos to those who did that!)
That's probably irrelevant to this problem:
"yum install mplayer" fails. Here's what happens:

New addition to FAQ
Greetings,
I was on IRC about 7 hours ago and suggested that the FAQ be updated slightly.
Rather than sit on my ass and complain I figured I'd ask a few people, and see
if the idea was worth the time.
Here's what Ive started with:
http://www.dimension.net.nz/theora.html
I'll be adding to it over the next 24 hours - mostly in the area of Playback
and Encoding.

pup update for mplayer: missing dependency libizo.so.1
I am updating my daughters CentOS 5.2 box. When pup was Resolving
Dependencies, I got an error for mplayer:
"Missing dependency. libizo.so.1 is needed by package mplayer".
Questions: (a) Where do I get that file? (b) How do I install it?
TIA! Lanny
