Help with GSM or CDMA hardware on CentOS and SMSTools question please
Hi everyone,
I would realy appreciate your help and guidense with a problem I have.
Im trying to set up a SMS Gateway as a alert system for my network.
Although the Aircard is picked up as a usb device and has a driver in
the kernel, it does not have a /dev/XXX device name. So my question is
how do I create this /dev/XXX device and make it persistent.
I have installed CentOS as my base with

CentOS 5.2 vs. Intel 82801 AC'97 Audio
I have installed 5.2 on my work desktop and everything works perfectly
EXCEPT the sound device. Here is the relevant lspci line:
00:1f.5 Multimedia audio controller: Intel Corporation 82801DB/DBL/DBM

I tried looking in Google (might have been a bad search), but all I
could find was to add acpi=on to my boot line in grub.conf, and that

choppy audio playback
Oh, wise Centaurs,
On the last install (Suse) I was running on this old notebook (Dell
i600m) the audio worked fine. Specifically, Realplayer and onsite
players (like you get at NPR and other sites) and youtube played just
fine. But with this current install (CentOS 5.3, fully updated) all of
those sources just mentioned play choppy. It's like an echo so severe
that it's impossible to

Hello,
I was playing the German version of StarCraft under Debian sid with wine

[dsound] section of ~/.wine/config. I had the following problem: after
playing for a while without problems (sound was ok), wine said

Wine asks to set "HardwareAcceleration" = "Emulation" and it is already set.
Hello,
I wonder if somebody has an idea what could be a reason behind this
error message. I am running wine version installed as rpm for Fedora
Core: wine-20041201-1fc3winehq. This actually happens for two games, one
of them - fallout. I am able to run some windows apps with sound (flash
player). Fallout displays initial screen and then crashes with this
error message (apparently when it

Star Wars Jedi Knight II Jedi Outcast running very slowly.
The above. Jedi Outcast installed, and ran to the startup screen as
normal. Movies played at a reasonable speed. However, the main menu
was incredibly slow. I tried changing various settings to LOW,
without luck. I searched and found something about running it in 24-
bit mode instead of 16-bit mode, but that did not help either, because
a) there was no 24-bit mode, and b) 32-bit mode was no

Crosshairs/mouse problem with Jedi Outcast/Academy
I have a problem in both Jedi Academy and Outcast where my crosshairs are sort of sticky or stuttering. When I move the mouse, the screen seems to scroll smoothly, but the crosshairs tend to stay stuck on whatever they are pointing at rather than remaining fixed in the center of the screen, until they jump to get back to the center of the screen or whatever their home position should be. It's

Disc reading problem...
I have a certain Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast disc that I am trying to load an autorun.exe off of with wine, but with a peculiar problem: the game executable is labeled "AUTORUN.EXE;1", along with many other files of a similar suffix. When I try to run it, wine works for a bit then gives up, showing no screen or other indication. I then tried to rename the exe and other files

Jk2 v1.02 and v1.04
Well guys, got myself in an annoying situation here. I'm using Ubuntu and i installed Wine. Then i installed Jk2 (Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast) and it worked straight away! I could play online on v1.02. I didn't try v1.04, because v1.04 is for nubs lol. Anyway, the next day i tried to refresh the server list and nothing shown up. So i updated to v1.04 to have a look if it could

Bug in winealsa.drv? Incredibly specific oddity
I've been struggling desperately to get iGuidance 4 working with Wine and I've come across what seems like an incredibly specific problem.
I've been struggling with the TTS output for the navigation, it just keeps randomly locking up the app, sometimes after a mile, sometimes 30, after figuring out I could debug just the wave classes, I think I've found a clue.
It keeps hanging

FW: IA64 test report: 2.6.8-rc1 /tiger 2004-7-20: Boot Hang!
Originally, the test is on a tiger with RHEL installed. The fs is ext3 as default.
Then the oops came up.
I've installed the test kernel on another tiger with Suse, reiserfs as default.
The kernel can boot successfully without any trouble.
Is it a known issue? Or what causes this happen?
thanks,
-zhen
