Samba Password Question.
Hi All - Quick question. Is there anyway that when a user first invokes Samba to map to a network share that they are asked to change their (samba) password. I've got a whole bunch of (samba) users who all have been given the same password and I want them to have to change it to one of their own choosing upon first login. Kind Regards, Mark Parsons Ernst & Young is proud to bring

Help with extensions - can't dial 700
I have been working on integrating some FXS ports into my dial plan delivered via a channel bank and testing with an analog handset. The receptionist is on Extension 700. All other SIP phones are 7XX. >From a SIP phone I can dial 700 and all other extensions. >From the analog handset I can dial any other extension but not the 700 number. Weird? Yep. The CLI does not show any dialing when I

Seeking advice about ISDN BRI Cards
Hi, please whoever has some expertise in choice of BRI ISDN cards, please restore my faith in community support :) (on private email I can probably explain more than fits for a public forum) Most I'd like to ask is about what to choose, out of what is available... My locality is United Kingdom, lines from British Telecom (BT), but any advice / pointers (I googled around already) are

required field for one, optional for another
rails 3.2.11 My app has User model, its one of the fields is entrepreneur:boolean. So users have two types; one is normal users, the other is professional users. For normal users, only emails and usernames are required and other fields are optional. For professional users, in addition to above, addresses and real names are required. Is there any Ruby way to set the requirement depending on the

Sangoma Wanpipe Driver Compile for DAHDI Failure
I'm trying to get my Sangoma B600 working with Asterisk 1.6.1 and DAHDI 2.2. I've tried running ./Setup dahdi (and with --64-bit_4GB flag, running amd64) and the compile fails with this for many versions of the driver (incl. 3.3.16, 3.3.16.22, and 3.4.1): Building modules, stage 2. Configuring Sangoma BRI with zaptel?
Hello, there has been a post to this list somewhere arount april which said that it is possible to use a Sangoma BRI A500 card with zaptel and asterisk bristuff. That is, without sangoma_brid and sangoma_mgd daemons and without woomera channels. Could anybody give me a short hint how to configure this? I tried wanpipe-driver + zaptel + asterisk-bristuffed, but I couldn't get zaptel to

Riding the Rails to acquisition
Guys, I think many of us on this list would consider ourselves entrepreneurs. I''m willing to bet at least 40% of you are working on ideas for startups...hoping that you just might have the next Flickr, Oddpost, del.icio.us, etc. Me too, for what it''s worth. Rails is good for this, in that it enables you to move quickly (after the learning curve) and it''s

Seeking advice about ISDN BRI Cards
Checkout Beronet ISDN cards and Berofix Gateway (appliance or pci card) Personally for my last installation I chose Berofix card which is rock solid and reliable, yet easily configurable. With berofix you don't need telephony drivers on the host system, the isdn card is detected as a NIC and all configuration is done using a web interface. Then you configure FreePBX a new trunk to use the

TE410P PCI card in 1U rackount server
I was wondering if there is anyone following the list that has this or similar PCI cards running in a 1U server. If so, could you possibly recommend a PCI card bus adapter? I'm not sure exactly which kind I'll need. I plan on researching the different types of adapters I can purchase for my specific mobo (Supermicro X9SCA-F), but I'd like to not waste time by ordering an incorrect

mini-PCI FXS card?
Is there any product that's a single port mini-PCI FXS card? I'm aware of the Openvox A400M <http://www.openvox.com.cn/products.php?genre_id=39>, but I really only wanted one port. How about a single or dual port PCI or PCI express FXS card? Basically I wanted to build a small linux router with one or two phone ports. Alternatively, is there already a router or single board

Paranoid Firewalling
After reading this article: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/08/31/blocking_chinese_ip_addresses/ I got to thinking that there is really no reason for *any* traffic to hit my servers that comes from anywhere outside North America. So I wrote the perl script at the end of this posting to extract selected IP ranges posted at iana.org and convert them into iptables rules blocking any traffic
