AWS/EC2 server selection
Hi Jeff
Are you aware of any challenges of hosting it on AWS? It will help me to
work out alternate plan. Is there any recommendation? Should I split it
to multiple instances and balance traffic across multiple small server
instances? I can use Kamailio to balance traffic.
I see many posts referring to AWS deployment. Please help me to choose
AWS server instance.
*Thanks & Regards,*

Digital ocean offers ssd on all the virtual machines. Uptime is good.

Why use Amazon? With that kind of load I would want dedicated servers.
Call Rackspace or Softlayer.

Amazon instances are shared resources. I wouldn't want to count on
timing or disk throughput, and you can't just ask them to do "ssd" - its
a virtual machine! 500 simultaneous recordings is a hefty load, and I
would want to know that the underlying hardware is dedicated to the task.
Sure you see lots of posts about hosting asterisk and/or freeswitch on
EC2. I have done it

Still a shared resource. I don't see the benefit.
Even beyond the shared resource bit, with the kind of IO you are likely
to be pushing, you will want a decent NAS with lots of spindles and
fibre channel to your hosts.

AsyncAGI - How to jump in dial plan when no action initiated on channel or AMI user is disconnected
It means, AMI application is no more running or crashed or lost network connection with asterisk server.
In such cases call is neither answered nor disconnected by Asterisk. I want to detect such state and jump to next dial plan to answer or reject the calls

AsyncAGI - How to jump in dial plan when no action initiated on channel or AMI user is disconnected
Hi
Is there any way to detect inactivity on channel when AsyncAGI is used?
I want to detect whether application handling calls using AMI & AGI has
stopped responding.
Alternatively, how can dialplan check if there is any AMI user connected
and decide dial plan execution?
Thanks & Regards,
Amit Patkar

softphone instead of desktop phones
Thirdlane Connect can be used as a softphone. It works in modern browsers (no installation is required), on Mac, Windows and Linux desktops, and on mobile phones.
Besides basic softphone functionality, it provides instant messaging, group chat (channels), voice and video conferencing, and screen sharing. It integrates with a variety of applications and CRMs such as Salesforce, Zoho, Zendesk,

Maximum call handling capacity on single server
Hi
I have a server with Quad Core Xeon 2.4GHz and 4GB RAM. I want to use it for
PSTN-IP gateway. What is the maximum call handling capacity I can achieve
with this server?
I want at least 480 concurrent PSTN-IP calls. That mean I will have to
install minimum 4 x 4E1 cards and run 480 G.711 RTP sessions. No call
recording. No IVR. Pure gateway functionality. Can I achieve this capacity

Yeah, I wouldn't mind so much if it had actually answered the original
poster's query. "Switch to our proprietary solution and we can offer you
this proprietary solution" isn't a contribution, it's an ad.

PJSIP configuration for AWS/EC2 based Asterisk 13.1.0
Hello All,
I have an Asterisk server v13.1.0 running on EC2 and I am able to connect
and register SIP devices and "see" them on the asterisk CLI. I am also able
to place calls, but I am not able to hear any audio on either end after the
call is picked up.
I was wondering if you can tell me what a minimal configuration for
Asterisk on EC2 looks like. My current pjsip.conf configuration

Asterisk 1.8.20 AGI function SAY DATETIME does not play anything when mode in say.conf is changed to "new"
Hi
I am using following say.conf file. Its a default file, which comes with
Asterisk installation.
When I call SAY DATETIME AGI function, it simply returns without playing
date & time. Where as if I use mode=old setting, it works. Is this a bug
or mode=new is not implemented for SAY DATETIME AGI function?

Networking issues with lxc containers in AWS EC2
I've created an EC2 AMI for AWS that essentially represents a CentOS 7
"hypervisor" image. I deploy instances of these in AWS and create an
number of libvirt based lxc containers on each of these instances. The
containers run fine within a single host and have no problem
communicating with themselves as well as with their host, and vice
versa. However, containers hosted in one

AWS EC2 - CentOS 6 + 7 AMIs for new g3.* instance types?
Hello-
Does anyone one this list maintain the official CentOS 6 + 7 AMIs in AWS?
If so, could you please enable those images for use with the new g3.*
instance types?
If this list is the wrong place for this request, please point me in the
right direction.
Thanks!

Issues with Twilio number incoming call and context matching
Hello,
I am running Asterisk 13.6.0 in an AWS instance, and I set it up with
Twilio SIP trunk using pjsip_wizard.conf (nice feature!). I see that the
calls actually "reach" the PBX, but for some reason, they are not caught by
any of my extensions context.
Here's what I observe when I test this from a non-PBX connected E164 number
(a landline), say 555-666-1212. My Twilio number is

R on 32-bit Linux.
Does anybody know if there exists an mage (R 64-bit on Linux 64-bit) on
Amazon EC2?
Or how can I install 64-bit R on my own Linux instance there?
Thanks.

Asterisk on EC2 cloud computing - price assumptions - your brain needed
I've been involved with getting better data for running Asterisk on
the Amazon EC2 cloud computing system. Here are some calculations
I've made on costs based on current published prices on Amazon's
system. Feel free to tell me that I'm wrong with these calculations -
but be specific if you find any problems, as I suspect others may glom
onto these figures as gospel and
