JITTERBUFFER function
Hello!
I am going to use the JITTERBUFFER function in a SIP (and local channels)
only setup, but have some questions of how to use it:
1. Do I need to activate jbenable in sip.conf? Or is it enough to call
the JITTERBUFFER function?
2. What is the preferred way to invoke this function? Say I have
channel A which is not in need of buffering, while channel B do need it. If

Running as non-root
Hello.
I would like to run asterisk as an user other than root. I have seen some
tutorials on the web, but I would like to know if there is some ?official?
how-to for this. Is there?
I looked at a thread on reviewboard regarding this
(https://reviewboard.asterisk.org/r/654/). It was Paul Belangers work trying
to make the installation process take care of this. But the conclusion seem

Converting asterisk h264 recordings
Hello,
We are setting up an asterisk system for voicemail with video possibilities.
We are not using the voicemail app, but rather writing our own dialplan
logic. The part of recording, and replaying, the voicemail works, and we
receive both an h264 and an wav-file. What I now wonder is how to convert
these into one file playable by a (standard) media player. I have not found
any real good

Jitter buffer question
Hi List,
I have a question regarding jitterbuffer in Asterisk 1.4.24. I see that
jitterbuffer is only effective on the receiving channels.
My asterisk has only SIP accounts + 2 SIP trunk accounts to our branch
office.
Questions:
1. To enable jitter buffer on SIP channels it seems I have to enable and
force it, right?
2. If I enable and force jitter buffer, Asterisk would always have to
stay

Dynamically setting from domain when calling friends
Hello
I have a problem where I would like to be able to send an arbitrary SIP
domain when sending a call to a registered friend. By default the from
domain is set to the IP of the Asterisk server, but I would like to set it
to something else.
The case is that when a call from a foreign domain comes in to the Asterisk,
it will connect it to the callee (but with the domain changed). When

Adaptive jitterbuffer problem
Hello there,
I have set a simple environment to test some functionalities of
asterisk's new jitterbuffer.
The environment is composed of a sip softphone registering in asterisk
1.4 and calling a pstn phone connected to asterisk through a fxs
board.
Using the fixed buffer implementation the call quality is improved
when injecting a artificial jitter in my local network. However, when

Force Jitter Buffer for SIP to SIP calls
We have a customer on a wireless connection that has very bad jitter. They
can hear people fine, but people have a very hard time hearing them. They
are connected via a SPA-2102.
It is a SIP client going to a SIP trunk.
Something like this in sip.conf [general] would be in effect for all SIP
clients:
jbenable = yes
jbmaxsize = 150
jbresyncthreshold = 1000
jbimpl = fixed
jblog = yes
I only want

AGI script that uses google's text to speech engine
Hello,
I have written an AGI script for asterisk that uses google translate for
text to speech synthesis.
It supports a variety of different languages, local caching for the voice
data and wideband audio.
The voice in most languages is female and the quality of the synthesized
speech is very high.
More info about the script can be found here:

Distorted VM with iax2 with ilbc and jitterbuffer - bug?
Two asterisk boxes 150 miles apart, both cvs-head as of this morning
(and since Sept 27th), connected via iax2 with low-utilized ds3 internet,
C7960 calls exten on remote system (also C7960), and call goes to VM.
No other calls in either system (eg, no load).
Both boxes have iax config'ed as:
trunk=yes
allow=ilbc
jitterbuffer=yes
Recorded VM messages are very distorted.

More HEAD wierdness (chan_sip, jitterbuffer/PLC problems)
Hello,
After checking out CVS HEAD from yesterday (for those new
PLC/Jitterbuffer patches), I was affected by bug 3795 with my Polycom
IP600's. After seing it resolved as of this morning (thanks Mark), I
decided to try again...
I can answer incoming calls. No problem there. Putting calls on hold,
however, results in my Polycom IP600 indicating the call on hold, but
the caller does

jitterbuffer causes no sound?
Hi guys,
I 've tried asterisk 1.2.2. It work flawlessly for about 3 days then at
the third days I activated setting jitterbuffer=yes and suddenly there
is no voice when the call is picked up. It's really weird as if asterisk
stops sending rtp packet. I've checked asterisk log and found nothing
suspicious. Just weird :S.
I tried it in 3 asterisk server and all of them are having

jitterbuffer and DTMF conflict?
I find that DTMF does not work reliably if jitterbuffer=on for certain
IAX providers. For instance, DTMF tones are missed entirely about half
the time when I dial into an exgn.net account. However, it always works
fine for an unlimitel.ca account.
Someone else has seen this too: http://bugs.digium.com/view.php?id=6011
Can anyone suggest a workaround (other than jitterbuffer=off)?

jitterbuffer causes flaky IAX2 incoming connections?
I've been having problems with incoming IAX2 calls - some work, but a
large fraction are answered with "dead air" or disconnects from my IAX
provider.
Disabling the jitterbuffer seems to eliminate the problem (so far)! Has
anyone else seen this? I'm using 1.2.6, but I'm not sure what my
provider is using.

Hi,
I am trying to communicate H323 and SIP users. I have configured h323.conf, sip.conf and ooh323.conf. If I am using gatekeeper (gnugk) then I am able to call successfully to h323 users using SJphone. And same for SIP users also.
But when I disabled gatekeeper and trying to call using gateway with sjphone then every time whatever number I dial the call goes to asterisk and some computerized

jitterbuffer
What is the consensus on using the 1.4 jitterbuffer? Do most people
enable it?
We have a "PSTN" server that has our RBS T1 trunks in a central location,
then have clients that connect via SIP to us for access to those trunks.
Most of them are just fine, but lately we have a handful that are having
latency and jitter issues. I am hesitant to just turn on the jitter
buffer in
