Anyone using fuse and/or sshfs under Centos 4.4?
Hi
A search of google failed to show any prebuilt rpms for sshfs and fuse.
I do see that fuse support is in 2.6.14 kernel which isn't a whole lot of
help.
Before I dive headlong into this has anyone successfully built fuse/sshfs
against Centos 4.4.
If so would you share your experience?
Thanks

Intel 2915
I am installing CentOS5 on a dell Lattitude D610.
dmesg: recognizes the the wireless Intel 2915:
ipw2200: Detected Intel Pro/Wireless 2915ABG Network Connection
I have googled for ipw2915 and centos5 OR rhel5, can't find
instructions for installing the firmware.
Should the firmware be installed from the CDs?
Any suggestion?

Fedora source packages on Centos -- libtiff again
In my seeking a managable way to build libtiff, on the Asterfax forum
I got the following recommendation (from another fax user that made
the move to libtiff 3.8.2):

Hi Robert,
I have compiled libtiff-3.8.2 from the source package for my Fedora
Core 4 machine.
I am not sure about CentOS, but I think you can try to do the same

Via C3 and CentOS5
Hi,
I have an Asus terminator C3 with 512Mb. It has a Via P3-800Mhz
CPU, with a VIA chipset. It's currently running FC6. I wanted to
wipe the machine and install CentOS5.
It boots from the CD to the linux prompt, then it fully loads
vmlinux, then starts initrd.img, and somewhere at that point it
reboots.
I have tried: noapic, noapm, noprobe. Same, somewhere during
initrd.img or at then

CentOS 5 & Beryl
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
For those interested, the beryl packages from Fedora-Extras (FC6) will
install cleanly and run perfectly on CentOS 5.
For it running here on a Duron 1600, 512MB RAM and GForce 4 MX440.
Snappy as it gets.
Best regards,

gnbd vs drbd
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Up until now, I have been using drbd for file custers with great success.
Yes, it is a PITA, and sometimes you can get annoying sincronization
issues (mostly on lab situations).
Now I have been considering giving gnbd (with cs/gfs) a try.
Do any of you ever crossed this path ? Any comparisons or comments ?
TIA,

files in a directory limitation
Just curious but is there a limitation on the number of files in a
directory? I am using ext3.
I'm not concerned about file size just the number of files.

CentOS vs. Nokia Phones
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

I have been trying to access my Nokia 6230 using a DKU-2 data cable from
CentOS, with some weird results.
Interesting thing is that I have VMWare installed on this machine and, if
I install the Nokia Suite inside it, it can access the phone without
problems. So all hardware related parts are working.
Anyway, kernel load the cdc_acm module, and gives

slightly OT - gphpedit on CentOS 5?
Hi all,
Advance apologies for being slightly OT.
Has anyone had successes with installing gphpedit on CentOS 5? There
don't seem to be any rpms avail for our distro and I'm far too new to
roll my own.
Thanks in advance (off - list replies are welcome if that's more
appropriate)

NVidia Quadro4 200/400 NVS CentoOS 4.4
I've put a Nvidia Quadro card in my machine. It was first detected as
Quadro4 200/400 NVS. I have the pigtail for dual monitors. I've tried
tweaking the xorg file to get it working, to no avail. So I then
downloaded the 9631 version driver from Nvidia. The readme for the newer
files said that they didn't support this card.
I run the installer, it builds the module, but gets

ATI X300 on CentOS 4
Hello Everyone,
I'm running the x86_64 bit version of CentOS 4 on a dual AMD Opteron
server. The graphics card is an ATI Radeon X300. At the moment, Xorg
is configured to use the open source driver, radeon. The server itself
is connected to a KVM switch, which has otherwise not caused any issues.
Recently, the virtual terminals have started to go blank and then not
come back. What I mean

There _are_ systems with hot-swap CPUs, memory and/or, PCI[-X] slots.
They are _not_ commodity and pricey, and require OS-level support.
In fact, I believe Linux 2.6 has some support for

That's _exactly_ what I'm talking about.
Run-level 3 starts xdm.
Several Linux distros use 2 for multi-user, 3 for multi-user w/X.
Run-level 2 as multi-user w/o networking or w/o NFS was

Choice of FTP server
I have taken over a number of RH/FC/CentOS servers recently. I am trying
to upgrade all of them to CentOS 4.3 and configure them to only use
software that can be managed via yum/apt repositories. One of the
choices made by my predecessor was the pure-ftpd server over vsftpd. I
cannot find a repo to get this rpm from and am wondering if anyone on
the list has any practical experience with both and
