Question about stderr output containing carriage return External
Hi all,
I have recently only discovered that openssh prints lines to stderr
separated by CLRF pairs, and am trying to understand where this
behavior comes from.
This behavior can be seen here:
--snip--
$ ssh u at u 2>&1 | sed -n l
ssh: Could not resolve hostname u: Name or service not known\r$
--snip--
I have seen section 11.3 from rfc4253, but am unsure whether that is

2.9p2 behaves different from 2.5.2p2 on tunneling issue
Hi,
I have a problem with a Linux box which I updated from 2.5.2p2
to 2.9p2 recently. It's running a tunnel started via inittab
using a script which starts
ssh -2 -N -o 'ConnectionAttempts 3600' -L <tunnel> $host
This has run reliable with 2.5.2 over the last months. Now, after
I have upgraded to 2.9p2, the tunnel is closed right after each
attempt of an application to use

sftp Client for Windows XP
Folks,
Excuse my ignorance on the subject but I'm new to OpenSSH and have been
tasked to write a 'sftp' Client for a home-grown application that runs on a
Windows platform.
The answers to my questions is probably on the List Archives but I'm not
able to find it even after a few search attempts.
So here goes...
1. Is it possible to even write a custom 'sftp' client for

Question about stderr output containing carriage return External
Hi Josh,
it's been around for a while:
https://github.com/openbsd/src/commit/8747197a4a479407167d01f46017ddb99cc3cae2
Though the commit doesn't say why it needs the \r.
Cheers,
Marian

AMI and pyst
Does anyone on this list use pyst for AMI purposes?
If so, can you point me in the direction of some simple examples. There
seems to be none anywhere online. Probably doesn't help that I'm not that
experienced at python but not insurmountably so.
Thanks in Advance

Shorewall Documentation Updates, Request for Input
Hello,
I have the go ahead to fix documentation. For starters I will clean all
extraneous crap from the markup. Then fix any errors and typos.
If anyone sees any gramatical errors or typos or needed clarifications or
expansions or whatever, please post them here.
Or additional FAQ entries, etc, all will be considered.
I hope to keep most of this conversation on the shorewall-devel list.

Twisted Idea
Ok, this is probably an incomplete thought, but over the last few weeks of
reading this list, I think I'm ready to start designing my system, and would
like to solicit input.
Currently, I have 2 POPs, one each in 2 different states. Each has a Lucent
TNT w/~400 trunks. Each TNT has the capability to provision a PRI that can
be piped into an * system.
So, my interface to the PSTN is
