Managing Sieve on macOS 10.12 Sierra with Server 5.2?
I don?t know if this is considered OT, but dovecot has support for sieve. I had a rule set running under Mac OS X 10.8.5 Server 2.2.5 which I did maintain by hand on the server because a while before Mac OS X Server had dropped support for Squirrelmail. Now I wonder if there is a decent way to get sieve running again on macOS 10.12 Sierra with Server 5.2 G

Sierra destroyed my KDE Wine Menu
Something curious happen last night. Loaded an old game by Sierra - After Dark Games. Prior to loading the game, the Wine menu was fine, yet after, all that was left was the 'Program' directory. The links to utilities were gone. I suspect this was due to Sierra's menu creation routine loading a Sierra menu at the "root" of the menu. I was able to rebuild the menu under

Cursor lag: Mac High Sierra, R 3.4.2, Macbook Air 2017
Hi, I'm running High Sierra on a new "2017" Macbook Air. I upgraded R from a previous version (3.2 or 3.3 ?) and now there is a huge lag on the curser in the R command window itself and in script files. I am not using RStudio. There is a page on GitHub detailing the same problem currently when using Rstudio. I have no idea whether this problem is related or not. Cheers Kevin

File system issue since upgrading macOS to High Sierra
Hi, Since upgrading macOS High Sierra, R will stop responding, requiring me to force R to quit, when I am trying to open a script using File -> Open Document. I don't have any problems opening files by double-clicking them in Finder. Sometimes R gives me the message in the attached screenshot: Any suggestions? -Rich -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was

OpenSSH slow on OSX High Sierra (maybe due to libcrypto)?
Hi all. Is anyone else seeing issues with OpenSSH being slow on OSX High Sierra? In the interests of better test coverage I set one up, however the OpenSSH tests take much longer on it than on much older machines with much slower CPUs. It seems to be due to the vendor-supplied libcrypto being about 20x slower at bignum operations than nominally the same version of LibreSSL compiled locally. If

sshfp/ldns still having issues in 7.6
I have been running openSSH 7.4p1 for a while now. When I upgraded to 7.5 a year or so ago I ran into the problem listed in this bug report: Bug report: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=218472 The release notes for 7.6 release notes indicate that the fix patch was included: https://www.openssh.com/txt/release-7.6 I tried 7.6 and I still cannot connect without a prompt wondering

Again, is there any debug setting that allows me to see what SSL version was requested? Without this, this is fumbling in the dark. [ESS] R window: Text is read only (: Another round :)
Dear All Working along in R (Emacs {Aquamacs}, ESS ) usually I am getting a long R buffer with many rows. To reduce its length, I used to select backwards and delete those unnecessary rows. Now I cannot do that, only C-k allows single lines to be deleted. the mode line says 'Text is read-only *R*>'. Both R and ESS are up to date. Aquamacs 3.3 GNU Emacs 25.1.1

Unexpected behaviour from read.table
I?ve been struggling with seemingly ?corrupt? data.frames for a few days, and believe I?ve narrowed the problem down to some odd behaviour from read.table I receive a tab delimited file from an external provider where strings are encoded as =?content?. Not sure why, perhaps as most users open it in Excel. My specific issue is that trailing spaces in any of the strings are causing strange results

CVE-2018-14634 and kernel-debuginfo ?
The current mitigation for CVE-2018-14634 is a systemtap script mentioned here: https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/cve-2018-14634 It also mentions that one can build a kernel module to distribute to other machines, but in any case one needs the corresponding debuginfo packages to do either. After enabling CentOS-Debug.repo, what I get is:

upgrade to 4.4 hangs
Two identical machines, both running CentOS 4.3 plus all the errata. First one: yum update went for a while and hung. sshd 7.4p1 with ssl 1.0.2j seg faults, MacOSX 10.12.2/3, clang-800.0.42.1
Never had much trouble building on the Mac until this round. Trying to build 7.4p1 with openssl 1.0.2j on a MacOSX 10.12.2/3 machine. gcc --version returns clang-800.0.42.1. This is the latest Xcode. Builds fine. Upon running sshd, it seg faults with this in the logs: assertion failed 16C67: libsystem_trace.dynlib+76912 [5BD4ECD4-75CA-38EA-AF5C-B481C15955F8]: 0x0 If I run the tests, it

smbpasswd truncates password to 8 chars on Solaris sparc?
Good Day. In June, I posted a small query under the Subject of _odd smbpasswd / smbclient error from Linux to Solaris_ Briefly, a Solaris sparc server running 3.0.25a would not accept passwords from the Linux smbclient program if the password was 9 characters or greater. Instead, one would get this: session setup failed: NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE but it worked fine with the Solaris sparc
