sshd "getpeername failed: Transport endpoint is not connected" error
Thanks for suggestion. That was, indeed, a problem on our network. Sorry for bothering you. BTW, "-r" option is not included in a man page, it doesn't seem to have any effect as well. 2015-12-11 5:47 GMT+03:00 Darren Tucker <dtucker at zip.com.au>: > On Wed, Dec 9, 2015 at 7:43 PM, Andrey Klimentev <andrei650816 at gmail.com> wrote: >> Hello, everybody.

Logfile encoding question
Hello. I've got a question about encoding in sshd's log files. When I try to log in with a "?" username, which is a cyrillic "h" (U+0445), I get this message in a logfile: input_userauth_request: invalid user \\321\\205 [preauth]. I am struggling to understand: is that hex, is that octal? It doesn't map to any encoding that I know of.

Configuration file TCPKeepAlive option does not work reliably
Hi! There are configuration knobs (TCPKeepAlive) to enable/disable the use of TCP keepalives both in the ssh client and server. Unfortunately some UNIX systems default to SO_KEEPALIVE=on and some to =off. This may even be settable on a per host basis (OpenBSD default net.inet.tcp.always_keepalive=1 ???). For the TCPKeepAlive configuration knob I would like to propose changes along the lines

Logging Login Attempts
I have passwords turned off, and require keys to match. The zombie armies swarming outside are trying brute force attacks that in part involve guessing login NAMES. If they guess the wrong NAME, this is logged in syslog. If they guess a working user name, then the attack has PARTIALLY SUCCEEDED, but this information is IGNORED. That is, it is not logged. If the zombie army has tell when it

[PATCH nbdkit 1/2] server: Call .get_ready before redirecting stdin/stdout to /dev/null.
VDDK plugin + --run was broken because of the following sequence of events: (1) After .config_complete, server redirects stdin/stdout to /dev/null. (2) Server then calls vddk_get_ready which reexecs. (3) We restart the server from the top, but with stdin/stdout redirected to /dev/null. So saved_stdin/saved_stdout save /dev/null. (4) run_command is called which "restores"

Samba getpeername failed. Error was Transport endpoint is not connected
Dear All, Suse 10.2 Samba 3.2.8 How to get rid off the annoying: Samba getpeername failed. Error was Transport endpoint is not connected. I made iptables ?I INPUT 1 ?p tcp ?dport 445 ?j DROP and it finished. But this could not be the solution. Since the newer versions of samba this port makes sense and should be used. Did someone solve this? Greetings Daniel

R: cannot list/access samba share from Windows client
Thanks for the rapid reply! I think the problem was in the server role options I’ve modified it in “server member” and now I’m able to list the shares under \\linuxserver from any domain user authenticated in a Windows pc AD member. But now 1. Execute computer management from a Windows domain member client as a domain admin user (run as com_spoleto\rossetti.admin that is a “domain admins” member
