Smart1500lcdt will not connect with usbhid-ups
I talked to Tripp Lite Technical support.
Their policy is that they only support Fedora and SUSE. There is no one
there that could help with Ubuntu or NUT issues. The only answer they could
give me was to port the rpm files to Ubuntu and use them. This is way
beyond my experience level.
I will go to the local electronics store and buy a cheap USB 2 hub to see if
that works. I will post the

Barry,
I have had success with NUT on Debian and an EATON 5E2000IUSB-AU 5E
2000VA/1200W UPS With 3 x OUTLETS which I believe is good value.
I would believe the the EATON ?5E 1500VA/900W UPS With 3 x OUTLETS
would work just as well.
The 1500VA also uses the same batteries as the 2000VA so I would
believe it would run its raited load longer than 2000VA. My eight
drive RAID driver uses less that

Smart1500lcdt will not connect with usbhid-ups
Another Update:
I had to reboot my server today. After the reboot, I had the exact same problem as before without the usb hub.
Since I already had the ups connected and communicating, I decided to try to figure out how to fix it.
Here is what worked for me using the usb 2.0 hub
sudo upsd ?c stop
sudo upsdrvctl stop
sudo upsdrvctl start
sudo upsd
Everything connected up and was

I/O errors with usbhid-ups and Tripp Lite SMART1500LCDT
Hi List,
I recently picked up a Tripp Lite SMART1500LCDT while they were on sale
to pair with my home server, and have tried getting it set up with NUT,
since it seems to be supported. I can get the whole NUT stack up and
running, but the driver seems to only stay up for a couple minutes
before crashing out.
I've uploaded the level 6 debug output of the driver (with my serial

Tripp-Lite SMART1500LCDT
I bought this UPS to use with NUT. I've used Belkin, APC, CyberPower,
Best, Powerware upses with NUT on dozens of servers beginning with RHEL3.

Since this was advertised as USB HID, I didn't expect any problems. Bad
idea (should have gotten the Cyberware with somewhat less runtime).
Initially, it seems to

Also, Barry Skrypnyk mentioned that Fedora was one of the Linux distributions that Tripp Lite claims to support. I recommend

Charles,

The CentOS minimal install had different print statements and a broadcast
message whenever the UPS was disconnected. The broadcast isn't really
important. Below are the differences I pasted though I'm not sure if they
are important, I just noticed they were different. Particularly the bolded
parts which I think you alluded to in your email about

UPS Product additions to NUT HCL list for compatible Tripp Lite UPS systems

There is also an attached Word document covering the UPSC / UPSCMD / UPSRW information from the specific UPS systems. Let me know if this is adequate to get our additional HID compatible products added to the NUT HCL listing.

[EXTERNAL] Fixing Drops With SMART1500LCDXL & USB-HID Driver
Ok, so I have made some progress that seems to suggest the initial “fix” I stumbled upon isn’t required. I haven’t yet worked backwards to figure out reasons why our customers have had similar complaints or solve the problem on the CentOS VM yet, but that is on the todo list. I am hoping it ends up just being not enabling the service on startup, but I can’t say that explains away all the symptoms

Fixing Drops With SMART1500LCDXL & USB-HID Driver
Hi Network UPS Tools Support,
I'm not sure if this is a question for the "user group" or the developer group".
My name is David Zomaya and I work at Tripp Lite in our technical support department. Copied on this email are Eric Cobb from our Product Management group & Jonathan Manzanilla tech support subject matter expert for our single phase UPS product lines.

trouble building nut for HID-USB
I have a user running centos 6.8 with a brand new Tripplite HID (protocol 4016)
UPS. So I installed nut 6.5 from EPEL and it sometimes worked, and it
sometimes didn't, and it seemed to be very inconsistent about loading the
device driver.
So, looking around and after spending some time looking at things that had
nothing to do with the real problem, I instead wiped the full install,

Small patch to scale the values for TRIPP-LITE SMART*LCDT's
Hi,
I just decided to fix some scaling issues for my UPS (TRIPP-LITE
SMART1500LCDT). Apparently that issue existed for some time (and I knew
about it as well:-()
See http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.comp.monitoring.nut.devel/6482 for a
thread.
My little patch is attached (against 2.7.3). It seems to be working
better for me but I don't have any other TRIPP-LITE's to test that I did

Thanks for the inputs.
I’ll get CentOS 7.6 installed on a physical machine this week and follow up.
Few responses and notes below in the interim.
