File name too long
Hi,
I've got a File name too long problem using rsync-2.5.6 or rsync 2.5.5-0.1
(debian)
I had a look to the mailing list archive and to the todo file and all I've
seen was that the problem only appears on old special systems.
I'm using debian 2.2.20. (is it too old?)
I've already posted this bug in debian bug tracking system

1.ai Terms of Service
I''d like to try out 1.ai, but I noticed that there is a checkbox that
must be selected when registering that indicates I agree to 1.ai''s
terms of service. I am not, however, able to view the terms of
service. There is no link on the front page, and it''s not listed at
1.ai/terms, 1.ai/tos, 1.ai/agreement, etc. I am also unable to find an
email address for 1.ai and I

SuSE /var/ disk space
Hi all,
I''m playing with Xen for the first time, and encounter problems when
installing a client.
We basically have limited space on the /var/ partition, and Xen seems to
use this as temporary storage during installation.
Is there anyway of configuring it to use some other location?
Cheers,
Dean.

OCFS and LVM2
Hi Everyboy !
I read that LVM2 is not cluster aware (specially with OCFS2) from different
post on internet forum... If it's true, could someone could confirm this
information and point me where i can find this affirmation in documentation
?
I do some test with OCFS2 on LVM2 and it's seems to run correctly , so i
have some interrogation about this fact !
If it's true that LVM2 are

Solaris nsswitch.conf with winbind
Hi,
I have the exact same problem (described in this archived mail below) but couldn't find any solution in the archives or on google.
So far, I have tried renaming one of the "allowed" libraries like ldap and then creating a symlink named nss_ldap.so.1 to point to nss_winbind.so.1 and also tried renaming in different versions of the /etc/nsswitch.conf file before and after

Solaris winbind with password aging (workaround inside)
A few days back, I asked whether it was possible to have winbind co-exist with password aging on a Solaris system. Seems like there is no easy way around this.
After a few more days of frantic poking and truss-ing around, I found a crude but seemingly workable workaround.
It seems the the library /usr/lib/passwdutil.so.1 is the one
responsible for checking that the passwd entry in

ZFS and UFS performance
We are running Solaris 10 11/06 on a Sun V240 with 2 CPUS and 8 GB of memory. This V240 is attached to a 3510 FC that has 12 x 300 GB disks. The 3510 is configured as HW RAID 5 with 10 disks and 2 spares and it''s exported to the V240 as a single LUN.
We create iso images of our product in the following way (high-level):
# mkfile 3g /isoimages/myiso
# lofiadm -a /isoimages/myiso

Running debuginfo-tests with Dexter
Hi llvm-dev@,
There's been some renewed interest in integration tests for debuginfo,
checking that debuggers interpret LLVMs output in the way we expect.
Paul suggested a while back [0] that our (Sony's) Dexter [1] tool
could be a useful driver for running debuginfo tests -- I'd like to
ask whether people think this would be desirable course to take, and
what the requirements for

interactive 2-D plot interrogation
Greetings Friends:
I am trying to find a widget or some other method to let me interrogate a
2-D image using the mouse. I have a data.frame that I can visualize using
image() in R. I would like to point to a pixel and have its coordinates
displayed.
I've read Peter Dalgaard's primer on R-Tcl/Tk, R-News, 1(3):27-31, and his
update R-News2(3):25-27, but am still struggling.
Can anyone

Slow Samba writes over NFS
Hello...
Currently in the process of upgrading Samba v2.0.10 to Samba v3.0.x, while
conducting some minimal testing, it turns-out that Samba v3.0.x is
performing slower than Samba v2.0.10.
Set-ups:
A. Samba v3.0.x -->
Same PC client is accessing the samba share running on Red Hat 4.5 (64bit,
HP DL380) which in turn has an NFS mount coming from another SAN attached

Slow Samba writes over NFS
Hi...
Same problem here,
running on CentOS 5.* and 4.5.
It was solved by installing the package lockdev.
Then you must restart the machine.
And problem fixed.

Solaris 11 Server does not show up in Windows 7 Network List
I have several years of experience running Samba on Solaris.
We only use Samba to permit data transfer between the Sun server and users
running PCs by means of transferring files.
We currently have a Sun V240 running Solaris 8 and samba with no problems.
We also have a Sun M3000 running Solaris 10 and Samba with no problems.
I am trying to configure a new Oracle T4-1 server to run Samba.

Upgrading Samba
I am in the process of planning for a samba upgrade. The current version
of Samba (2.2.8a) runs on a Sunfire 280R with Solaris 8. The intended
new platform is a sunfire V240 with Solaris 9 as the OS. The new version of
Samba will be Samba-3.0.10. Please note that the Samba server will be a
member of a domain.
I've read Samba-3 by Example, Chapter 8 which describes to the process of

ntp time server
Currently, my time server is a Sun v240 with a 32-pci gps card (with a
proprietary Solaris driver) attached to our gps receiver via an sma
cable up to the roof of my building. As I'm migrating almost all of
our Solaris servers and services over to CentOS, I'd like to know what
other people are using for time server hardware. Any suggestions?
