Trouble Configuring NUT with Gamatronic USB
Hi
I am running FC5 with nut coming from the fc5 extras repositories. I
am trying to configure a Gamatronic D-Compact ups. The cable that came
with the ups has a serial connector on one end and a usb on the other.

Fun and games with newhidups, udev rules and permissions
Thought I would write some notes about how I got an APC BackUPS XS
1500 working with newhidups under Gentoo 2006.0. The specific issue
here is the permissions on the device files used that libusb uses to
access the USB hardware.
I followed Peter Selinger's instructions at
http://www.mscs.dal.ca/~selinger/ups/backups.html
on getting newhidups going with an APC device. The sticking point for

NUT-2.0.5: newhidups on RedHat ES4
Hello everybody,
After succeeded in "tuning" nut-2.0.0's hidups and 2.0.3's newhidups on
customized Linux kernels, we are now facing a new challenge : trying to
install nut-2.0.5 on a RedHat ES4 which is based on a 2.6.9 kernel.
I picked up the 2.0.5 source package and follow the INSTALL doc until step
6. So far so good.
RH ES4 is managed by udev, therefore I presume we

HoMM 3 - SoD not working under FC6, but does in FC5
I am able to run HoMM 3 (3DO version) SoD expansion with the 3.2 update
and the No CD crack on FC5. However it doesn't run on FC6. I tried disabling
SELinux and that did not have an appreciable effect. I tried wine versions
0.9.24, 0.9.25 and 0.9.27.
Here is the output on the terminal session:

Can not find the Belkin F6H375-USB
I have changed over to CentOS5 on some of our computers. I had been using
Mandriva 2006 and the nut software worked using:
driver = newhidups
port = auto
Using the same version of nut with the same config files on CentOS5, I get the
following error output from 'upsdrvctl':
Network UPS Tools - UPS driver controller 2.0.4
Network UPS Tools: New USB/HID UPS driver 0.28 (2.0.4)

FreeBSD 6.1, MGE Ellipse ASR600USBS, newhidups & upsd
Hello,
I'm facing problems as I'm installing NUT to monitor a MGE Ellipse
ASR600USBS on a FreeBSD 6.1 box.
UPS is recognized as :
ugen0: MGE UPS SYSTEMS ELLIPSE, rev 1.10/42.41, addr 2
I'm temporarily using root profile (devfs/devd scripts not modified atm).
newhidups starts & runs fine (unplugging mains makes newhidups outputs
lots of data when started with -DDDD flags)

Hi all
I've been using nut to manage a variety of smart and dumb UPS's for
about a year now, so I've got no excuse for just subscribing to the
list now. Except maybe that the debian-user lists provide plenty of
reading material. Anyway, I recently updated a couple of boxes to
2.6.15 kernels from 2.4.x and got to learn fun things about udev. I'm
happy to do a write up on a simple udev

fsync, ext3, raid (md) 1, write barriers and PATA caching
I have been trying to figure out whether I can enable write caching on my
PATA hard drives (WD3200JB) and have fsync not return until data is
safely on the platters. I am also running software raid.
This is currently on FC5 (though soon to be FC6) with a 2.6.18 kernel.
>From snippets I have found on the net, it looks like write barriers are
pushed down through software raid when using raid 1.

Samba 3.0.23c-1.fc5 problem - groups
Hi there,
I use FC5.
I discovered, for an exemple, if you have a user group with 3 members (Alan,
Baker, Clive), before 3.0.23c this line at smb.conf worked fine:
valid users = @user
But with 3.0.23c update it doesn't work anymore.
You have to replace the line like this:
valid users = Alan, Baker, Clive
I mean, replace the "@groupname" with the complete userlist of the

newhidups and hidups drivers
I just installed NUT and my UPS is an APC Back-UPS ES 500. I looked in the list
of drivers and found APC Back-UPS ES 350 listed in "drivers.txt" -- that list
said I should use either the newhidups or hidups driver. I looked in the
installation and I found headers and c files to create these drivers (I think),
but in /usr/local/ups/bin there is no driver named, "newhidups or

newhidups / Solaris 10 / APC RM1500
Hi there,
been using NUT for ages and recently upgraded to a new server; while
I'm waiting
for a USB->Serial adapter for Solaris to arrive, I thought I'd play
with the
newhidups, as the APC UPS I have has a USB port and the new server
doesn't have
a serial port....
I've got Solaris 10 & newhidups working with the ugen driver up to a
point,
and that is a read

APC Smart-UPS 1000 RM USB problems with newhidups
Well, after our first real extended power outage, I found out that even
though the UPS 1000 RM is recognized okay, it does not work properly. It
never seems to see any change in UPS status. It looks very similar to the
other issue I reported with the APC CyberFort 350. I never was able to get
to the bottom of the CyberFort issue, but I'll bet it's the same issue as we
have with the
