Windows XP clients
My UPS (an APC 620, FWIW) is attached to my Sun workstation, and monitored by NUT. Everything works a treat and I'm delighted with it (in direct contrast to the useless APC software it came with). But ... I'd like to put my wife's XP machine on the UPS, and have the Sun shut it down, when appropriate. I see there is an XP port of NUT, so ... before I start down the path of horror that

How to change the class of data?
Hi all, I have some data x, which are actualy consisted of numerical enties. But the class of this matrix is set to be "factor" by someone else. I used "class(x)", it turns out to be "factor". So I can not calculate them. How can I turn them into numerical data so that I can apply math operations on them? Thanks a lot for your help. Selina [[alternative HTML

apcsmart and #311678 feature request thoughts
https://alioth.debian.org/tracker/?func=detail&atid=411544&aid=311678&group_id=30602 I wanted to do it somewhat more flexibly/elegantly, so this is what I've been thinking about (or rather sitting on mostly implemented piece, still needing some testing though): - any variable that may include multiple data, would be (during runtime) split into appropriate *.N.* sets; for

(3.0.2a) nsswitch/winbindd_user.c:winbindd_getpwnam(157)
After connecting to the samba server as a domain user without password challenge, authenticating against a w2k DC (security = ADS), with winbindd running, I can navigate the shares successfully but cannot write to the share. I have done "net groupadd ..." to map windoze-unix groups. I am assuming from the log enties below that my access problem lies in the given errors. How to

Problem in production enviroment 3.0.23c-1
Hi, We use Samba as backend for an IIS webfarm (shared hosting). Some of our customers are using Frontpage extentions to manage their site. Now when uploading a new folder or file the users are getting: Cannot read or set the permissions for file \\server\share\file: initializing the SD failed When you click OK (you can only click OK at this point) the folder or file is created and the rights

RFC: Constructing StringRefs at compile time
Well, apparently clang has clang::StringLiteral in clang/AST/Expr.h So, our options are either: Allow this name clash (obviously the namespaces don't clash, only the names) and deal with it when it's an issue (which will be limited to clang, and even then not very often), or choose a different name. early shutdown of VMware VMs
I'm new to NUT, but didn't find a clear answer to this either in the recent "ordered shutdown" thread or in Google: How to shut down VMWare guest virtual machines earlier than the host machine they run on? (For example, if everything normally shuts down at 5% UPS battery, then the VMs should shut down at 10%.) I also read upssched.txt but I can't tell from the early
