I've recently begun to try out LVM snapshots and I have 2 things I'm wondering about My intention is to run backups off the snapshot. As a first iteration, I left 15% of the disk for the snapshot LV. 1. The HOWTO instructions suggest that the snapshot is in effect as long as the snapshot LV exists, and use lvremove to disable the snapshot. Is this the proper way? 2. I chose 15%

What is the maximum number of AMD64 cores supported by CentOS 4? The RedHat page https://www.redhat.com/software/rhel/configuration/ suggests that RHEL 4 AS supports up to 8 AMD64/EM64T logical cpus. Two weeks ago I (clean-)installed CentOS 6.2 on a server which had been running 5.7. There is a 16 disk = ~11 TB data volume running on an Areca ARC-1280 raid card with LVM + xfs filesystem on it. Using the yum-fastestmirror plugin on CentOS 5. The mirror that gets selected seems to be always the same one, and the particular one for my EPEL channel is slow as sin (often 30 kB/sec or less). Ctrl-C moves to the next one which is satisfactory, but it's a pain to have to do that every time. Is there a way to prevent a particular mirror from being selected? I can remove the entry
