Thanks for the info, Philip. I will update the LLVM Programmer’s Manual first. [CommandLine] Missing clEnumValEnd for cl::values in tutorial page
Hi Bekket, I don't see any use case in the codebase adding clEnumValEnd at the end of list (for example, [1]), I also don't see there is clEnumValEnd. Do I miss something here? LLVM docs links broken

I'd vaguely understood the old links had been deprecated for a while. Unfortunately they're still the top Google results when you search for the relevant classes, which is

need more information about the two classes of CallInst and CastInst
Hello, everyone. I want to know more about the classes of CallInst and CastInst, but i can just find some information of them in the InstrTypes.h file. Can you offer me more materials about the two important classes? If there are some cases, that is better. [LLVMdev] creating new Metadata
Dear llvm-ers, I am trying to attach a customized metadata to llvm instructions. Let's say, I want to attach some number to each instruction. I am trying to use void Instruction::setMetadata(unsigned KindID, MDNode* Node) but I am not sure how to create a brand new instance of an MDNode. Do you have any code samples demonstrating how to do that? Due to some tool dependencies, I am using

[LLVMdev] creating new Metadata
Hello, Thank you very much for the pointers. I am are able to create new MDNodes, filled with some constants, and attach them to llvm instructions. However, the metadata map is not getting updated as expected. For example, instead of the expected new entry !n = metadata !{some values} we are getting !n = metadata !{null} Do you know what might be wrong? Do we need to enter the MDNodes into the

[LLVMdev] questions about memory dependence analysis
Hi, I have tried memory dependence analysis. I found that load could have def dependence on another load. How could this happen? And what does clobber dependence mean? Thanks a lot! Best, Linhai

Is subclass of ScheduleDAGMILive a pre-RA scheduler?
Hi All, The description of ScheduleDAGMILive [1] says: ScheduleDAGMILive is an implementation of ScheduleDAGInstrs that schedules machine instructions while updating LiveIntervals and tracking regpressure. Does the live interval and register pressure part of ScheduleDAGMILive mean the subclass of ScheduleDAGMILive is a pre-RA scheduler? I assume the post-RA scheduler no need to take

When a libcall will be generated?
Hi All, I am looking at a linker error under O2: undefined symbol __lshrdi3 I have two questions here: 1. Does that mean our libgcc (?) doesn't implement __lshrdi3? Or more generally, why I have such linker error? 2. Seems some operations are combined, and replaced with __lshrdi3 call. I am interested in when such libcall will be generated? Could you show me one

[LLVMdev] Instrument examples
Hi, I am new to LLVM. I want to use LLVM to instrument codes, such as function calls and basic blocks. But I don't know where to start. I wonder if there are any example codes to show how to instrument codes in the IR level? Thanks. -- zhouxu -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Is it a good idea to mark class as deprecated?
Hi All, During a discussion about instruction scheduling in LLVM [1], I realize that class PostRASchedulerList actually is deprecated. The documentation of instruction scheduling is pretty poor, so I cannot find such information. Removing the obsoleted class might be too aggressive. I am wondering if we can mark the class as deprecated [2] (seems C++14 feature required), or at least making a
