what does cut(data, breaks=n) actually do?
Hello,
I'm trying to bin a quantity into 2-3 bins for calculating entropy and
mutual information. One of the approaches I'm exploring is the cut()
function, which is what the mutualInfo function in binDist uses. When it's
called in the format cut(data, breaks=n), it somehow splits the data into n
distinct bins. Can anyone tell me how cut() decides where to cut?
Thanks,
Melissa

lld as ld replacement on Windows (with MinGW)
Hi,
I couldn’t find a lld specific list so I hope this is the correct place for
lld questions.
I would like to build a llvm/clang/libcxx based toolchain for Windows using
the MinGW runtime. Since the MinGW runtime kind of expects to be built by
gcc I figured the easiest way forward would be to use lld in ld mode.
However, it seems that lld cannot produce windows executables while working

The configuration we’re mentioning is a 2-stage bootstrap: You need first to build without LTO your own clang, and then use it for the LTO build.

Asan self host problems: Failed to deallocate
Trying to run a self host "ninja check-clang" with ASan enabled I hit a

only in check-clang):
Any ideas?

Struggling with a PGO build of clang -- llvm-profdata was built without zlib support?
Hi!
I'm trying to build a fast Clang for myself to use for debug builds on
Clang itself, but I've been struggling for a very long time on it. Could
you please help?
I've been following this guide: https://llvm.org/docs/HowToBuildWithPGO.html
I've quickly learned that its outdated, because the script it talks about
doesn't work with the monorepo layout at all, but in any

Struggling with a PGO build of clang -- llvm-profdata was built without zlib support?
Yes, that was it! Now that I took a closer look, the guide also states that
I should use the stage2 build. Silly me.
Thanks!

Cross compiling for Baremetal ARM without using GCC
Dear LLVM developers,
Hello,
I'm trying to find a way of cross-compiling my c code against Baremetal Cortex-M device (so target triple will be arm-none-eabi) only using LLVM/Clang, and not using anything from GNU (ld or libc).
I'm doing this to know which one of LLVM/clang and GCC produces smaller flash image size because saving flash is a big deal in our projects.

Compiling LLVM to LLVM IR
Hello everyone,
I'm trying to compile LLVM and Clang into LLVM IR with debug info. I know that clang++ -g2 -S -emit-llvm <filename> does this, but I'm unfamiliar with CMake.
I tried changing CMAKE_CXX_FLAGS in CMakeCache.txt to "clang++ -g2 -S -emit-llvm," "-g2 -S -emit-llvm," and "-emit-llvm," but everything I tried resulted in a failed build, and/or

Static llvm bindist
Is it possible to bootstrap a static llvm bindist that uses its own libcxx and
maybe a little bit if musl libc.a on Linux (and libc.a on FreeBSD) bundled in?
The use case is that one often needs to keep an older LLVM toolchain around
for some languages targeting an older bitcode stream and, with C++ and
everything, that older toolchain will easily stop working with other global
updates to the
