Geek Squad UPS Systems
We are interested in using Nut on our Federa 6.0 servers. However, our
UPS systems are sold under the name "Geek Squad" (sold through the Best
Buy chain of department stores). I'm pretty certain Geek Squad does not
manufacture these units and they just rebrand them. Does anyone know who
makes these units or what they are compatible with in terms of driver
level protocol? The ones we

Geek Squad UPS's
One of my UPS's died this weekend, and in the hunt for a replacement,
I came across:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=6819552&type=product&productCategoryId=cat08029&id=1091101368673
Apparently there are "Geek Squad" brand UPS!? I'm assuming they are
just re-branded. Does anyone know who the OEM is? Do they work with
NUT?
Thanks,
Dave

Install problem & Geek Squad UPS
I Seem to have made some progress in getting nut-2.0.5 installed, but
hidups still has a version number of 0.13. First is hidups 0.13 the
correct version? if not how do I find the correct version. Second if my
Geek Squad GS1285U UPS is not supported how do I proceed. I have been a
programmer for 35 years(mostly high level computer aided design),
written code in 20 some languages, am retired

newhidups output for Geek Squad GS1285U
This took a long time because I had problems with my system. After I
reloaded my operating system several times I found I had a bad memory
module.
Here is the output from newhidups for my Geek Squad GS1285U. It just
kept repeating until I hit ctl-z. I think that this means nut will work
for this ups. My computer is not powered by the ups yet. I did not want
it to be powered down by accident.

CyberPower 550SL reports LB and OB when on line power
I am using nut 2.2.2 and I have a CyberPower CP550SL.
According to the drivers list, I should be using genericups with
upstype set to 7, but when I try that and when I run upsc I get:
driver.name: genericups
driver.parameter.LB: 04
driver.parameter.pollinterval: 2
driver.parameter.port: /dev/ups
driver.parameter.upstype: 7
driver.version: 2.2.2
driver.version.internal: 1.34

Shutdown problem with Geek Squad GS1285U
Nut will monitor the ups and shutdown Linux when the ups goes to low
battery as it should. But the UPS is not shut down so the system will
restart when the power is restored. If I switch the UPS off , restore
power and switch the UPS on the system will restart. I have not been
able to get nut to switch the UPS off after it brings the system down. I
can get the UPS to switch off with upscmd

Problem with GeekSquad GS-1500 (Cyberpower 1500 avr lcd)
Hi,
I've installed Nut 2.0.5 on a RedHat 9 box.
I have a GeekSquad 1500 UPS. (GeekSquad is a BestBuy brand) I've found out
that
it's actually a CyberPower 1500 AVR LCD.
I'm using it with the serial cable.
I'm unable to get it working with any of the drivers provided with NUT.
I've tried cpsups, cyberpower and powerpanel.
here's the output of the different drivers

GS geek info
Remembering that at one point I was a hardware geek,
th GS seems to use the TMS320VC5402 PGE100 chip.
According to TI's web site
http://focus.ti.com/docs/tool/list.jthml?familyId=324&toolTypeId=32
there are a number of other Codec's available, including GSM ;)
This information was figured out via already public sources of
info.
Now if they would use the DSP+RISC then you could

Hello guys i'm a new asus eee user, you know the small umpc running the Xadnros OS,and since its not alla that bad i'm thinking of sticking to it instead of installing windwos XP.I do need though to run some windows apps,so i heard that wine should be my weapon of choice for this purpose!

sweex 1000VA LB OB issue
Hello folks,
I have a question regarding a sweex product. Its bundled with UPSmart v
2.12.
I installed nut accordingly to the user manual included in the software.
A quick check of data/drivers.list revealed to me i should use the:
"Sweex" "500/1000" "contact closure - shipped with
UPSmart" "genericups upstype=7" driver
this driver

Sola 305 with INT-0051 cable
Hello again,
I have a Sola 305 (aka Powerware 3110) here connected via a serial
INT-0051 cable which I am trying to get working with nut. The
driver.list file indicates that nut supports the Sola 305 when connected
via the INT-0025C cable using the genericups driver with upstype set to
7 but it does not mention the INT-0051.
I was able to use the "Basic CheckUPS II" utility provided

CPS GS 1500U
Hello all,
Has anyone had any luck getting a CPS GS 1500U working with NUT via USB.
Its branded Geek Squad (don't ask) but it shows up in the USB device list as
the CPS 1500U. I'm running Kubuntu Dapper with all current updates
installed, Kernel 2.6.15-26-686, NUT 2.0.3. I've tried hidups and
newhidups. With hidups I used port=/dev/bus/usb/001/004 which I'm sure is

How to add static routes?
Hello
i have several libvirt hosts (CentOS6, kvm), each with an internal
libvirt "default" network with "forward mode='route'". I have two
questions concerning static routes.
To give some context: On each of my libvirt hosts there is a VM acting
as a OpenVPN-gateway to the other libvirt hosts.

Kohonen's SOM in R?
Is there an implementation of the SOM ('Self Organizing Map') procedure in
R ?
I am aware of the implementations of Sammon mapping, multidimensional
scaling and, somewhat peripherally, principal curves and projection
pursuit .. but not SOM per se as far as I can see. Am I missing
something?

ownership of pid directory
Hello all,
Some time ago, you all were very helpful in getting nut running on an OpenBSD
system, using--for what it's worth--a CyberPower 1500AVR.
So I finally got my FreeBSD system's UPS, also a CyberPower 1500AVR, within
reach of its serial cable and I'm trying to get nut running here. I'm going
nuts.
Basically, I copied the OpenBSD configuration over to the FreeBSD system

Is there any benefit to using NetworkManager on a server with a static IP?
I've been banging my head against the wall trying to get a simple two NIC
bond to work. Got really odd behavior from service network restart, then
finally decided to disable NetworkManager. Voila! Bonding and the network
service script starts working just the way I expect.
Does anyone here actually use NetworkManager on anything but a laptop or
desktop? I can't seem to figure out a reason
