One of my UPS's died this weekend, and in the hunt for a replacement, I came across: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=6819552&type=product&productCategoryId=cat08029&id=1091101368673 Apparently there are "Geek Squad" brand UPS!? I Seem to have made some progress in getting nut-2.0.5 installed, but hidups still has a version number of 0.13. First is hidups 0.13 the correct version? if not how do I find the correct version. This took a long time because I had problems with my system. After I reloaded my operating system several times I found I had a bad memory module. Here is the output from newhidups for my Geek Squad GS1285U. It just kept repeating until I hit ctl-z. I think that this means nut will work for this ups. My computer is not powered by the ups yet. I did not want it to be powered down by accident.

Nut will monitor the ups and shutdown Linux when the ups goes to low battery as it should. But the UPS is not shut down so the system will restart when the power is restored. If I switch the UPS off , restore power and switch the UPS on the system will restart. I have not been able to get nut to switch the UPS off after it brings the system down.
