[LLVMdev] [RFC] Requiring python 2.6
So far two bots have complained about 2.7 (but have 2.6): http://bb.pgr.jp/builders/clang-i686-cygwin-RA-centos6/builds/12836/steps/configure/logs/stdio http://lab.llvm.org:8011/builders/llvm-s390x-linux1/builds/12002/steps/configure/logs/stdio Should we just upgrade those bots or reduce the requirement to 2.6? So, I think Dan Liew's point is very relevant in here. This is a testing tool. It is a reasonable expectation that anyone

Semi-OT: install python package in userspace
CentOS 7 box. As there's no package in any of the repos, we're trying to install scikit-learn in the user's space. It refuses. My late try was, after d/l a .whl from last year, hoping that would work with the numpy package in the regular repos, I did a pip install --user scikit-learn..., and it still seems to want to write to system space: OSError: [Errno 13] Permission denied:

lld and thread over-subscription
Hi Rui, et al., I was experimenting yesterday with building lld on my POWER7 PPC64/Linux machine, and ran into an unfortunate problem. When running the regressions tests under lit, almost all of the tests fail like this: terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::system_error' what(): Resource temporarily unavailable ... 5 libc.so.6 0x00000080b7847238 abort +

Well, there were valid objections to lowering the requirement. If we can require the host compiler to be upgraded, it is probably ok to require python to be upgraded too, no? Cheers, Rafael

Semi-OT: install python package in userspace
Just had a look at scikit-learn. An issue you have with the current version of this package is that is depends on NumPy (>= 1.8.2). The version of NumPy in CentOS 7 base is 1.7.1. You may need to look at building a Python virtual environment. You can google that ;) On Tue, Apr 10, 2018 at 9:43 AM, Richard Grainger <grainger at gmail.com> wrote: > I created the epypel (Extra Extra

Can lit be upgraded to assume Python 2.7?
In the root llvm/CMakeLists.txt we have: if( ${PYTHON_VERSION_STRING} VERSION_LESS 2.7 ) message(FATAL_ERROR "Python 2.7 or newer is required") endif() But lit seems to still be stuck in a Python 2.5 world. For example, detectCPUs is redundant now that we have multiprocessing.cpu_count() (multiprocessing requires >=2.6). And there are a bunch of other Python 2.5 workarounds

Can lit be upgraded to assume Python 2.7?
This sounds like a good idea to me! I can’t think of any common platform where you can’t get 2.7. Lets get rid of that legacy cruft! > On Feb 23, 2016, at 1:32 PM, Eric Christopher <echristo at gmail.com> wrote: > > Seems reasonable to me.
