smbmount/smbumount getting rid of dead connections
I've got a win98 laptop and a linux box. On my linux box, I smbmount a directory from the laptop. Alas, win98 boxes crash a lot, and I move the laptop a lot... to and from work. If the laptop crashes or if I move it with a shared directory mounted on my linux box, that mount gets "Stuck".... it's present in /etc/mtab but when I cd to it and do an ls it says: 243 emily ~>ls

cvs command failure on 5.2
Another little problem I am now having on CentOS 5.2 that I was not seeing on FC8: [mrichter at sushi lane]$ cvs update poll: protocol failure in circuit setup cvs [update aborted]: end of file from server (consult above messages if any) I could understand if there was something that had changed from FC1 to CentOS 5.2, but if it works in FC8, why not here? Here's what's in the CVS

Win98 / smbmount problem
I mount my win98 laptop directory on my linux box using: smbmount //sushi/doug -c "mount /home/deck/sushi -u deck -g deck -f 644" This works great so long as I don't ever leave the house. If I take the laptop away and then reconnect it, I can neither use the directory /home/deck/sushi (I get "input/output error") Nor can I unmout it or remount it. (I get "cannot

Calculating the overlapping area of ellipsoides
I'm generating several scatter3d visualizations of vegetation community distribution against a number parameters using the scatter3d function car package, The visualizations are fantastic and they provide great support for the analysis. As far as I can determine, scatter3d does not save the output of the routine as an object so I can not x <- scatter3d(MADep2010 ~ Day7Max2010 +

mongrel goes out to lunch for about 5 - 10 minutes
Not sure if this is the list for posting questions like this but please let me know. We are using Mongrel 0.13.4, Mongrel Cluster 0.2.1 with Rails 1.2.2 with 3 different mongrel processes running in the cluster. All appears to be well for hours and then one of the mongrel processes appears to hang and all incoming requests to that process timeout. The requests are not logged in the rails log,

zfs going out to lunch
I''ve been writing via tar to a pool some stuff from backup, around 500GB. Its taken quite a while as the tar is being read from NFS. My ZFS partition in this case is a RAIDZ 3-disk job using 3 400GB SATA drives (sil3124 card) Ever once in a while, a "df" stalls and during that time my io''s go flat, as in : capacity operations bandwidth pool
