Samba Team encourages supporting the Software Freedom Conservancy
For a number of years now, the Samba Team has been a member of the
Software Freedom Conservancy. They handle quite a bit of administration
for our project as well as pursuing GPL compliance. If you'd like to
see more about what they do, please check: https://sfconservancy.org/about/
We urge you to support the Conservancy. Here is a message from our own
Jeremy Allison:

Conservancy (home of Samba) needs support for GPL enforcement.
Hi all,
You may not know, but The Software Freedom Conservancy
is the legal home of the Samba project.
However, most Linux-using corporations *really* hate
GPL enforcement. To the point where they'll pull funding
for diversity programs and try and get conference talks
cancelled.
I hope Samba users will help support Conservancy so it
can continue doing vital work for us and other projects.

Software Freedom Conservancy creates Supporters program.
Apologies if this is a little off-topic,
but the Software Freedom Conservancy (which
is the legal umberella organization for
the Samba Project and may other Free Software
projects such as Wine) just announced their
"Supporters" program:

Please check it out, and if you're
feeling generous - join :-).

Forming a "Project Leadership Committee"
Xapian is in the process of joining the Software Freedom Conservancy
(https://sfconservancy.org/), but one thing we need to sort out before
we can finalise this is some sort of more formal project leadership
structure.
James Aylett and I have discussed this with Bradley Kuhn from
Conservancy, and we think the most appropriate model currently would be
a small group of at least 3 (to avoid deadlock

We are equally excited about working with you over summer.
I think you missed reply by Olly on IRC, you can find it in logs here:

sieve vacation: write to the .lda-dupes database without generating a vacation response.
I'm using Dovecot's sieve extensions quite happily, they are very good!
Thanks for all who worked on them. I have a question that maybe is
appropriate for a sieve-specific discussion list, so if there is one I
should post to instead, please let me know:
I've poked through the sieve vacation RFC and all the documentation I
can find and I cannot figure out how to do this. It's

Re: Obtaining Cisco Firmware painlessly and LEGITIMATELY?
I'm in the UK and have had terrible trouble getting the right contract.
After looking on voip-info I set off looking for a vendor only to find that
no-one sells the $9 contract. Cisco retracted that one :-( I asked for
the equivalent and they said I needed a ?20 contract. I said fine but
after 20 minutes or so got a call saying I couldn't have that one as it
didn't give me access

IAXy (S101) echo?
Hi Bradley,
Yes, I experienced quite a lot of echo with my IAXy, until I switched
analog handsets - in my case, it was severe acoustic coupling in a
cheap handset.
Regards,

Adding a title and author to a file that doesn't have one
I have a set of OGG files, and the person who encoding them didn't put an
author and title on the files. Is there any way to add this information
other than decoding it to .wav's again and encoding it again?
Thanks for your help.

Re: Obtaining Cisco Firmware painlessly andLEGITIMATELY?
CDW is not a Gold Cisco partner. I would talk with a group called Shore
Group http://www.shoregroup.com I know they do a lot of Cisco VoIP work
and can sell you a SmartNet contract no problem.
Cheers
Ryan

Proposal to change Samba contribution copyright policy.
Hi all,
Some history. Samba has historically only accepted code
with personal, not corporate copyright attached.
There were a couple of good reasons for this in the past, one
of which was that we preferred GPL enforcement decisions
to be made by individuals, not by corporations.
Under GPLv2, a license violator loses all rights under the
license and these have to be reinstated by the copyright
