[LLVMdev] fp Question
Hi, I ran Spec2006 with -O4. All integer benchmarks passed, but only 8 out 17 of floating point benchmarks passed. Is this normal or I made a mistake in my build? [LLVMdev] LLVM and Spec2006
Hi Reza, -O4 is the highest level of LLVM optimization that I know of. But, I don't know if it has been tried on Spec2006. IIRC, Dan Gohman has run Spec. tests with LLVM, so he can provide more info. - fariborz On Jul 19, 2010, at 6:06 PM, Reza Yazdani wrote: > Hi, > > What are the best options to compile Spec2006 with LLVM compilers to > get the best performance numbers

[LLVMdev] LLVM and Spec2006
Hi, What are the best options to compile Spec2006 with LLVM compilers to get the best performance numbers on x86? [LLVMdev] gold plugin example
Hi all, I got an error from the gold plugin example in the following link: http://llvm.org/docs/GoldPlugin.html#example1 Here is the error message: sangmin at sangmin-desktop:/tmp$ llvm-gcc -use-gold-plugin a.a b.o -o main /usr/bin/ld: error: a.a: no archive symbol table (run ranlib) /usr/bin/ld: /usr/lib/crt1.o:(.text+0x18): error: undefined reference to 'main' /usr/bin/ld: b.o: in

[LLVMdev] gold plugin example
Hi, I fixed error by using different version of ld with LLVM 2.7. I used ld.gold that comes with Ubuntu 10.04. Here is the version info: sangmin at sangmin-desktop:/tmp$ ld -v GNU gold (GNU Binutils for Ubuntu 2.20.1-system.20100303) 1.9 My experience of gold plugin is as follows: LLVM 2.7 (with libLLVMgold.so) + ld 2.20.1 (from Ubuntu 10.04) : O LLVM 2.7 (with libLLVMgold.so) + ld 2.21.51

[LLVMdev] CVS binutils includes support for plugins, can use the llvm plugin.
For some time now the gold linker has support for plugins and llvm has a plugin for it. Unfortunately, it was still not possible to do fully transparent LTO on linux because ar had no support for plugins and a library created with llvm files in it would have no symbol table and would be rejected by gold. Today support for plugins has been committed to BFD. That is the file format abstraction

This now works Very nice Rafael! Can you please update the web page to mention this, e.g. in the LinkTimeOptimization.html document and wherever else relevant? -Chris > > $ llvm-gcc -emit-llvm -O2 -c a.c

[LLVMdev] fp Question
433.milc, 447.deall, and 450.soplex are run as part of the nightly tests on Darwin (=MacOSX) in a way that closely approximates -O4. They are working there. I am inclined to suspect gold given that they work at -O3. Can a Linux person comment? On Jul 23, 2010, at 10:19 AMPDT, Reza Yazdani wrote: > Following is the list of fp benchmarks that fail. [LLVMdev] libLLVMgold.so: could not load plugin library
Hi there, I checked out the latest code from the repository, and wanna use the gold plugin, but I got the following: libLLVMgold.so: could not load plugin library Do you know why this is happening? Also I noticed the name of the library is changed to LLVMgold.so, and I just renamed it to libLLVMgold.so when I copied it. Is this the right thing to do? Thanks, Guoliang

[LLVMdev] Where should I put libLLVMgold.so??
Hi,all I'm using ubuntu8.04 and I'm installing gold-plugin along with the document of that, After I built the binutils and LLVM with plugin enabling, and I also replace ld with ld-new which supports plugin,I tried to compile a hello world program by this: llvm-gcc -use-gold-plugin a.a b.o -o hello which is similar with the example in the document,it tells me that libLLVMgold.so can not

The copy in that directory can have any name you like. BFD will try all. Note that that is the copy that nm and ar will use. The linker (gold) requires you to pass -plugin to it. >> >> Copying it
