Removing silence at the start and end of sample encoded
Hi, Speex is great! We are using it to compress hundreds of megabytes of speech for use in our application that trains people in resuscitation. The previous version of our product used Ogg Vorbis, but after switching to Speex, we achieve fantastic compression, while retaining super quality. That allows us to cram more translated versions of the software onto each CD-ROM, making everything

Removing silence at the start and end of sample encoded

Which batch programs should I be looking for? I had a look around, and could not find any... The reason speexenc seems like a good place to do this, is that it already have the routines to

Hi all. Looking at previous weeks logs I discovered strange errors: "file mail-transaction-log-view.c: assertion failed" dovecot v 1.0.12 Server is hosting more than 500 virtual users. It is compleate dovecot error log; only my own mailbox is affected ...and imap folder affected is "dovecots mailing list" :) While "Corrupted transaction log file" as far as I know

Flash/Vorbis: Even more improvements
Hello everyone, the code is slowly getting a little bit messy, but at least I've managed to tweak a lot of performance out of my Vorbis player for Flash. I did several improvements to the Huffman decoder by eliminating function calls and managed after a while to create an AS/haXe hybrid player. The haXe compiler definately produces much more efficient bytecode (at least in some

Removing silence at the start and end of sample encoded
Actually, there are probably some batch programs that could do the job. It's definitely not a job for speexenc, which I'd like to keep simple. Multiple problems: installing SWAT, no longer access to a restored (after deletion) share, ACL inheritance
I'm a job trainee, very new to Linux and Samba and was asked to set up a server based on OpenSUSE and Samba. The idea is not to make a production server but to investigate how and how well this works (the company is Windows exclusive at the moment) I got as far as properly installing Linux and Samba 3 with the help of the guides on the OpenSUSE website. But there are a few things that still

My Flash 10 attempt
Hi everybody, after hearing about the new Sound functionality in Flash 10, Arek's performance gain using the new Vector type instead of Array and not at least actually seeing the performance boost he achieved compared to my old Vorbis decoder, I found a few hours yesterday to migrate my old code. First of all: the new PCM playback API for Flash is rather restricted and only allows 44.1

brainfart #67453 - hyper-index
I don''t know if this has been suggested before but.. What about adding support for a bookmark or hyperlinked index? The idea is that a large compilation such as a long speech or an album would be maintained as a single file, but on playback, the player would show numerous ''tracks'' which are really just bookmarks relating to starting position of the specific part or

Flash Vorbis player
Hi, I wanted to let you know that I have just made available the sources to the ogg + vorbis implementation in haXe, which I've been working on for last couple of weeks. The code compiles to an swf file playable in Flash Player 10. A demo of a simple player implementation (latest Flash 10 required): http://people.xiph.org/~arek/pg/hx/test.html and the sources, in a bzr branch, currently

It is set to Maildir and I backup the folder with the users maildata nightly via rsync. now, when someone deletes a mail that they still need, and I copy it back from the backup, it will not be visible to mail clients. mixed-effects model using lmer
Hello R-users, I have been trying to fit what I think is a simple mixed-effects model using lmer (from lme4), but I've run into some difficulty that I have not been able to resolve using the existing archives or Pinheiro and Bates (2000). I am measuring populations (of birds) which change with time at a number of different sites. These sites are grouped into regions. Sites are not measured

Fwd: [Vorbis-dev] Flash Vorbis player
Hey everyone, I saw over on the Vorbis-Dev list that they ported Ogg Vorbis over to Flash. Just wondering if this would be possible for Speex, and also if you have considered an iPhone implementation. I know that Apple is really hesitant to anger AT&T, but with Google's Android, VOIP on cell phones is just around the corner. Ironically voice bandwidth is set to go way down
