I want to use llvm inside OpenJDK's runtime hotspot for which a variant
exists that uses llvm as a JIT compiler backend.

We can not let it die and I volunteer to keep the Sparc alive!
My SPARCstation pizzaboxes can be ready for action in a day or two.

I don't think it's a samba bug!
Simply i'm pointing out that disabling 'winbind enum' can lead to some
'glitches', mostnotably 'getent passwd' return no domin users (by

[LLVMdev] [GSoC] "Microsoft Direct3D shader bytecode backend" proposal
Here's the other of my proposals for this year's Google Summer of Code.
(The first is on cfe-dev.) It was suggested to me by Dan Kegel (from the
Wine project, they really want this).
Title: Microsoft Direct3D shader bytecode backend
Abstract:
There is a distinct lack of open-source frameworks for compiling HLSL,
the shader language used by Direct3D, into bytecode that D3D can

If you think you need the 'winbind enum' lines so that 'getent' works,
then think again ;-)
If you do not have the 'winbind enum 'lines 'getent passwd username'
will still work.

1.4rc2: delayed redraw of 3d app
Since 1.4rc2, Google SketchUp does not immediately redraw the 3d drawing area, but only after the view has been invalidated another time.
That means SketchUp starts with black screen until you force it to update the view (by moving, resizing the window or orbiting or panning the view). This is also noticeable when you click, double-click or triple-click an object in order to select it: The object

QuickBooks Pro 99 Installer Hangs At Registering DLL's
When running the installer, it complains about not being able to communicate with windows. Ignoring the warning, installs until registering dll's, at which point it hangs.
Anyone run into this problem with this software or any other software and found a way to work around it?
Using Wine Version 1.0 on latest Kubuntu release.

Centos6 iptables startup vs. restart?
What is different about the initial startup of iptables than 'service
iptables restart' (and different from C5)? I want to use iptables
port redirection to send port 80 to 8080 so a java web service doesn't
have to start as root. On C5 it worked to give the iptables
commmands, then 'iptables save', and from then on it would
automatically work when iptables started after a

Similar, though I named it rcp because nobody has the real rcp installed
any more, but sometimes I need scp to connect to systems that lack rsync.

Some news for AutoCAD users
Well, finally some news that make Autocad almost perfect on wine.
Tested on 2005 and 2008.
To install AutoCAD, just follow the howto on appdb.
Here the patchsets :
1) Multiline text editor crash : go to bug 14827 page (http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14827) download and apply the patch to wine tree and rebuild/install it.
Please don't ask how to do it.... it's on many places in

Regression: Dragon Naturally Speaking 7.
I had installed Dragon Naturally Speaking under Wine 1.1.7 and earlier, and it was working fine.
But now under Wine 1.1.9, the result seems to be, that the toolbar for this application first goes into a strange state, where the (Linux) cursor disappears whenever the mouse is positioned over the application's toolbar. And using winecfg to emulate a virtual desktop does not change this
