[LLVMdev] Linking to LLVM libs from new project
Hi all, I have a new sample project set up in my llvm/projects directory, and I'd eventually like my frontend to generate an LLVM IR tree. To do so, I believe I need to link to the appropriate LLVM libraries. That's where I'm stuck. I can't seem to find any specific documentation that describes how to set up a new project to link to LLVM libraries. To get started, I added a

[LLVMdev] Error when building tutorial example
Hi all, I'm a new user to LLVM. Not really sure if this is the correct place to post, since there isn't really any other forums around. Anyway, the issue I'm encountering is that, I was trying out the first tutorial (http://llvm.org/docs/tutorial/JITTutorial1.html). I attempted to do this in another folder that was copied from llvm/projects/sample. I created a new folder called

[LLVMdev] Kaleidoscope toy4 failure seg fault on llvm::ExecutionEngine::getTargetData (this=0x0)
First, you have to call llvm-g++ to use the llvm-gcc front end, but it doesn't matter here. I'd like to suggest that you use pastebin to put your code and the send us the link, so that we can download it. The problem is that TheExecutionEngine is set to NULL (maybe because of a previous error), but it will be really better if you use pastebin. On Wed, Feb 17, 2010 at 6:01 AM, Todd Rovito

[LLVMdev] Kaleidoscope toy4 failure seg fault on llvm::ExecutionEngine::getTargetData (this=0x0)
I am new to llvm so I might be missing a critical step. My system is Fedora 12 but this also happens in Mac OS X 10.6.2. Here are the steps I used to compile llvm: export TARGETS=x86,x86_64,cpp export INSTALLDIR=/home/rovitotv/llvm ../llvm-2.6/configure --prefix=$INSTALLDIR --enable-bindings=none --enable-targets=$TARGETS --enable-optimized --with-llvmgccdir=$INSTALLDIR

[LLVMdev] Getting Kaleidoscope to compile
Hi all, I've started work on a new programming language for which I am considering using LLVM as the backend, and trying to experiment with it using the Kaleidoscope demo compiler. Taking the full source listing from http://llvm.org/docs/tutorial/LangImpl3.html#code and trying to compile it with the provided instructions gives me the following errors: a at a-desktop:~$ g++ -g -O3 toy.cpp

[LLVMdev] Changed: Build errors for poolalloc using MinGW/gcc 4.4.0
The patch below adds dsa and some of poolalloc to opt. It should be simple enough to extend to all of poolalloc by adding more classes to LinkDSA.h. [LLVMdev] 'Implementing a language with LLVM' tutorial
Nice work, Chris! This is a much needed tutorial. Some comments: -- It would be helpful to add some navigation links at the top and bottom of the pages. -- Not clear why PrototypeAST::Codegen returns a Function* instead of a Value* like the other CodeGen methods? -- It can be convenient to use Visitor methods on the AST classes for code generation, instead of hard-coding the CodeGen

Kaleidoscope tutorial: extern functions failing
Hi all, I am new to LLVM and have been working through the Kaleidoscope tutorial. Everything is working fine so far except for local externs (as opposed to things like the math functions, which are working). Note that I have seen this bug with the reference code listing, as well as my own code. link to code: https://llvm.org/docs/tutorial/LangImpl05.html#full-code-listing [c34n10 kaleidoscope]

[LLVMdev] Help with Mac OS X 10.6.2 build
Greetings, I am having trouble getting the Kaleidoscope example to build from tutorial #3 on Mac OS X 10.6.2. I didn't have too much trouble getting llvm-2.6 and llvm-gcc-frontend to build. Thanks for the help. Here are the steps I followed: Environment variables for build export LLVMOBJDIR=/opt/llvm export TARGETOPTIONS='--with-arch=nocona --with-tune=generic' export

[LLVMdev] Changed: Build errors for poolalloc using MinGW/gcc 4.4.0
Thanks John, for the update to the Makefiles. I did an "svn update" and am now able to build all the libraries. There were some problems building the poolalloc runtime but I'm not really interested in that. Andrew, thanks for the patch. I am trying to add DSA to opt as you suggested. What should the contents of LinkDSA.h be ? I would appreciate it if you could send me a copy of

[LLVMdev] Setting up new project
Hi, I am attempting to set up a new frontend project based on the sample project (I'm following the instructions at http://llvm.org/docs/Projects.html). In doing so, I hit a problem with AutoRegen.sh which I worked around, and hit a problem with configure that I don't know how to work around. Below is what happens when I attempt to autoconf and configure the sample project that ships
