[LLVMdev] Noob questoin on ExecutionEngine::create
Hello!
I'm using llvm v2.1 on FC8. I'm having some trouble with the tutorial on
adding JIT.
I'm just trying to compile the following code:
using namespace llvm;
static ExecutionEngine *TheExecutionEngine;
static Module *TheModule;
int main(){
TheModule = new Module("my cool jit");
TheExecutionEngine = ExecutionEngine::create(TheModule);
}
I'm using the following

I got the compile command from the Kaleidoscope documentation.

[LLVMdev] Kaleidoscope toy4 failure seg fault on llvm::ExecutionEngine::getTargetData (this=0x0)
First, you have to call llvm-g++ to use the llvm-gcc front end, but it
doesn't matter here.
I'd like to suggest that you use pastebin to put your code and the send us
the link, so that we can download it. The problem is that TheExecutionEngine
is set to NULL (maybe because of a previous error), but it will be really
better if you use pastebin.

[LLVMdev] Kaleidoscope toy4 failure seg fault on llvm::ExecutionEngine::getTargetData (this=0x0)
I am new to llvm so I might be missing a critical step. My system is
Fedora 12 but this also happens in Mac OS X 10.6.2. Here are the
steps I used to compile llvm:
export TARGETS=x86,x86_64,cpp
export INSTALLDIR=/home/rovitotv/llvm
../llvm-2.6/configure --prefix=$INSTALLDIR --enable-bindings=none
--enable-targets=$TARGETS --enable-optimized
--with-llvmgccdir=$INSTALLDIR

[LLVMdev] compiling the tutorial
Hi,
I'm investigating adding LLVM JIT support to a project of mine, but I'm
having issues when trying to compile the Kaleidoscope tutorial* under
MSVC 2008.
In particular, the problem is that in main() when this line is executed
> // Create the JIT.
> TheExecutionEngine = ExecutionEngine::create(TheModule);
create returns null, because both JITCtor and InterpCtor are null.

[LLVMdev] Kaleidoscope tutorial failed at Chapter 4...
Hi everyone. I am using LLVM 2.4 release to practise the tutorial at
Kaleidoscope Chapter 4.
I built the LLVM library, and created my own project, and then paste the
code from the tutorial into my own project. Then after compiled and built
it, I passed the built stage. (I am using visual studio 2005 )
However, when I tried to input some code in the command line window, the
sample program crashed.

[LLVMdev] Will gcc 4.3.0 compile llvm 2.2?
Hi!
I'm trying to compile llvm 2.2 with gcc 4.3.0 on FC8.
My compile is failing with the following error(s):
error: invalid use of incomplete type 'struct std::basic_ostream<char,
std::char_traits<char> >'
If you've run into this, how did you get around this issue?
thx in advance!

[LLVMdev] Kaleidoscope-tutorial: Fails to create the JIT
Hello All
I 'm studing LLVM/Clang and trying to follow the Kaleidoscope tutorial
(Release 2.6 version).
I found some minir docu-bugs and added them to Bugzilla.
However, Now I found a show-stopper for me, the toy (v4) demo does
build, but does crash, on any input. Even a simpe ';'!
Looking into the (demo-code) found the that the JIT can't be build/
created,/loaded/...

Where I can download it from?
Thanks,

[LLVMdev] Missing ExecutionEngine EngineKind::MCJIT ?
Greetings, I have a simple C++ EDSL working using the JIT execution engine.
When I upgraded to LLVM 3.2 (effortless upgrade, awesome stuff!) I thought I
would try taking the MCJIT for a spin after having read that the JIT is
considered to be "legacy".
So the changes I made to my code were:
+ #include <llvm/ExecutionEngine/MCJIT.h>
- #include <llvm/ExecutionEngine/JIT.h>

[LLVMdev] Cleaning up Module, ExecutionEngine, etc
The LLVM tutorial creates an instance of Module and ExecutionEngine, yet apparently never deletes these objects. Shouldn't it? Via something like:
delete TheModule;
at the end of main()?
- Paul
P.S.: Yes, I realize that the program will terminate and all memory for the process will be reclaimed anyway. I'm talking about for a case where a more complicated program creates more than

Change your g++ build to:
g++ -g -O0 toy-example26.cpp -o toy-example26 `/Users/albert/NoTimeMachine/LLCM_Clang/llvm-trunk/BUILD/Debug/bin/llvm-config --cppflags --ldflags --libs core jit interpreter native`
After you get this working, try it with the source interpreter include removed, and minus the above interpreter llvm-config addition.

Look at what is in <llvm source root>/examples/Kaleidoscope/toy.cpp.
This is the final version of the tutorial and worked the last time I played with 2.6.

[LLVMdev] Newbie question on front-end and code compaction
Hi!
I'm still a newbie to LLVM, so I'm looking for guidance that will tell me
the right docs to read.
I'm interested in working on 2 different things. I'm interested on adding a
new front end for a functional language such as Lisp. I'm also interested
in helping out with compaction(making code with a small footprint). What
are the right docs for me to start reading and

[LLVMdev] Which linux distribution required the least effort to install LLVM 2.3?
Hi!
I'm a new LLVM user.
I want to start using the LLVM System v2.3. However, I don't want to spend
all my time hunting, pecking, downgrading, and/or upgrading packages to get
LLVM v2.3 running. I was wondering which Linux distrubutions(FC7, Ubuntu,
NetBSD, etc) have required the least effort out of the box to start running
LLVM v2.3.
