[LLVMdev] Help with pass registration
Dear guys,
I have updated my LLVM to the top of CVS, and now I am getting
errors like this one below when I write new passes:
"llc: PassManagerT.h:387: void
llvm::PassManagerT<Trait>::markPassUsed(const llvm::PassInfo*,
llvm::Pass*) [with Trait = llvm::FTraits]: Assertion
`getAnalysisOrNullUp(P) &&

[LLVMdev] Pass management
Dear guys,
I need help fixing a little piece of code. I have a pass that I really
want to execute after the TwoAddressinstructionPass. But if I write
"AU.addRequiredID(TwoAddressInstructionPassID);" in my pass'
getAnalysisUsage, I end up getting the infamous:
PassManagerT.h:387: failed assertion `getAnalysisOrNullUp(P) &&

[LLVMdev] PHI Elimination in Register Allocation Pass
Good Afternoon.
I am a Computer Science undergraduate student in Brazil and as completion
of course work, I am developing an register allocator, using the
infrastructure of the LLVM.
To accomplish this task, I have based my implementation in allocators
already implemented in LLVM. But a question came to me while I was
researching in books and articles of compiler theory and own documentation

What does your getAnalysisUsage method look like?

[LLVMdev] Possible memory leak in LLVM 2.5
Hi,
I'm current using LLVM 2.5 to JIT code in a event driven language running on a game engine. Haven't updated to 2.7 yet, but I do intend to.
When checking for memory leaks I found that each time I was calling EE->runFunction after creating a stub function to execute an event, all the pass information was being repeatedly added to PMDataManager.
I have changed addAnalysisImplsPair

Web based call control
Does anyone know if it is possible to use a manager command to answer an incoming call and not consider it answered unitl it is received. Here is an example, I am deivering a call in the dialplan to a home telephone number. I don't want his voicemail to answer and I have no idea how long it will take to go to their home phone voicemail, but I don't want to deliver the call there, I want it

[LLVMdev] Possible memory leak in LLVM 2.5
I'm unfamiliar with the leak you've just described, but Jeffrey
Yasskin has done a lot of work cleaning up leaks for 2.7 and trunk.
I was just going to mention that unless the function you are calling
via runFunction has a simple prototype that's special cased in
runFunction, it will generate its own stub function for every call.
If you don't want to worry about that, you can call

Chris,
I think I've figured the problem out. I have a very basic question
though. What is the difference between addRequired, and addRequiredID?
For instance, in RegAllocLocal.cpp, you

HPUX: ssh hangs after shell exit
I am aware that there have been several posts related to ssh connections
hanging, i have tried to read through most of them in the archives... I
am posting this in hopes that it may present something new that will
further help resolve this problem.
The problem i am having appears to be similar to what others have
reported where after typing exit in an interactive shell the connection

[LLVMdev] Runtime exception in DominatorTree.getRootNode()
Hi all,
I am trying to traverse a dominator tree and have encountered a weird
runtime exception:
Here's my simple code:
virtual bool runOnFunction(Function &F) {
DominatorTree& DT = getAnalysis<DominatorTree>();
* DomTreeNode* rootNode = DT.getRootNode();*
return false.
}

epoll_ctl: Operation not permitted
Hi,
I am using wine-0.9.30 (self compiled) on a Debian 3.1 server. Wine is
required for CUI-applications, so no X-Server is running.
When I log in via ssh and start the application, wine is working
fine.
But whenever I try it from the webserver via php-script, wine doesn't
start properly. It fills the errout with "epoll_ctl: Operation not
permitted" unitl I send a SIGKILL to the

[LLVMdev] Error when using getAnalysis
Hi,
I had a question about this as well. The documentation about writing a
pass shows an example like what John wrote, calling a function pass within
a module pass on a per function basis. However, if I code it that way, I
still get the same error:
opt: /x/jeffhao/llvm/llvm/include/llvm/PassAnalysisSupport.h:232:
AnalysisType& llvm::Pass::getAnalysisID(const llvm::PassInfo*,

Help with pass manager
Sorry in advance for the stupid question, i still don’t understand some concepts like passes.
I took a piece of code from llc, and I used it to write a function that creates an object (or assembly) file from an IR module.
It compiles without any problems. But program crashes when it reaches add() method of the pass manager.
Can you help me figuring out what’s the problem please? here is my

[LLVMdev] [LLVMDev] Phi elimination: Who does what
Aye, between all current register allocators the
'AU.addRequiredID(PHIEliminationID);' will cause phi's to be
eliminated to copies, but this misses the point of my question.
What I am asking, is how does stack know that the value of the
variable which the resulting value of the phi is currently allocated
at. For instance take the instruction:
Machine Basic Block (mbb) 12

[LLVMdev] Runtime exception in DominatorTree.getRootNode()
Thanks for your reply, John.
I am using opt to run my pass. Should opt by default link in the library?
Would you please give me some idea on fixing it? Thanks!
opt -load ../../../Debug+Asserts/lib/LLVMHello.dylib -hello < hello.bc >
/dev/null
My pass is just:
#include "llvm/IR/Function.h"
#include "llvm/Pass.h"
#include "llvm/Support/raw_ostream.h"

[LLVMdev] LoopInfo::isAnalysis() unused?
Hi,
I was looking at the LoopInfo Analysis pass as an example, and found it
defined the isAnalysis() method to return true. I assumed the method was
overriden from some superclass (Pass, probably) and present in all analysis
passes.
However, a better look turns out that the method isn't really used anywhere.
PassInfo does define the same method which is used, but PassInfo is not a
superclass

[LLVMdev] about writing a functionpass requiring a modulepass

Hi,
I wrote an analysis pass, myPass, inherited from both ModulePass and
ProfileInfo, and this pass requires the CallGraph, i.e.,
* class myPass : public ModulePass, public ProfileInfo { ...};*
* void myPass::getAnalysisUsage(AnalysisUsage &AU) const

Help with pass manager
Assuming you are talking about this line:
passmanager.add(tliwp);
I don't see anything obviously wrong.
Are you hitting an assertion or a pure crash? (if LLVM not built with assertions, please rebuild).
What does your debugger gives you as a stracktrace?
