[LLVMdev] Trailing whitespace removal (important for CVS users!)
Why not put all this into a pre-commit filter in CVS and be done with it? We'd never be bothered with it again as it would never be committed again. Reid. I'd rather not have CVS commit scripts mucking with the code. If you want to have the nightly tester whine about source code with spaces at the end of lines (like it whines about

Hmmm, those pesky .c and .in files, but I thought I covered all the .h and .cpp files... darn. OK, I'll trade you -- can you tell me how I can grep for a tab within a file? The following don't work for me: grep

[LLVMdev] svn pre-commit hook: help needed
On a related note, I wrote a few scripts to detect and correct some types of such style errors, see llvm/utils/lint/* . I also added a function to llvm/utils/vim/vimrc to delete trailing whitespace and highlight existing trailing whitespace -- if anyone's an Emacs-lisp hacker, please add it to the emacs config file as well. Sure, this doesn't enforce anything, but I'm hoping folks

[LLVMdev] isa and friends as an alternative to dynamic cast?
I see a bunch of definitions scattered throughout LLVM, and I could not find good documentation on them. I don't understand why they exist when LLVM is being compiled with RTTI enabled. It seems to me that: isa<T>(x) is a substitute for (dynamic_cast<T>(x) != NULL) and there are some other similar casting tools defined in Casting.h. Why should I use these instead of C++'s
