Multi-Card reader (SD, MMC, etc) and CONFIG_SCSI_MULTI_LUN kernel option in 34.0.2. Workaround
Hi folks,
Im trying to get a multi-card reader on centos (SD, MMC, and so, 4 card
slots) and i have read (http://www.cs.sfu.ca/~ggbaker/personal/cf-linux)
that CONFIG_SCSI_MULTI_LUN should be enabled on kernel (=Y) but current
34.0.2 doesn't have it enabled by default, is there any particular
reason to not be enabled?
By the other hand i've also tweak the /etc/grub.conf file to boot the

ghost 8.x and newer
Hi all,
I love syslinux!! It works great.
Problem. GHost 8.x and higher... With ghost 7.5 and earlier I was able to
boot floppy images from my tftp server.
But as you all know Ghost 8.x and higher had a bloated ghost.exe that does
not fit on a single 1.44mb floopy image file.
Has any one had any luck in getting ghost 8.x and higher to work with
syslinux and memdisk? I have tried to create over

drive recognition in EAC/wine
Hello all:
I am using exactaudio copy (EAC) with wine on linux (suse 10.1)
So far I had no problems with drive recognition.
Recently I've attached another drive to the IDE 0 slave port
and this drive is not recognized by EAC/wine.
Here is my 'cdrecord dev=ATA -scanbus' output:

Ghostcast random freeze.
Greetings again,
I am experiencing a lockup when ghost casting about 1 out of 5 client machines locks up. I don't recall if I was having this issue when I was using 3com pxe menus or not. I was wondering if the issue I am seeing could be caused by pxelinux since it basically is loading a Linux kernel then booting a MSDos.imz file. I cannot find any errors from the ghostcast side or the

how to know when a system is compromised
This is one where there's probably no limit to what you could do. We have a high-security environment and are using Aide and OSSEC.
Aide has been good at reporting file system changes and is very granular, the dilemma is what to monitor and what to ignore (keep from being inundated with reports of innocuous changes at the risk of missing something). However, it is not daemon-based so

Hi,
i try to run Nero Bruning Rom 5.0 under Wine !
I had installed it with the wine release 20010731 that came with my suse 7.3
after adding the line
[scsi c0t2d0]
"Device" = "/dev/sg0"
to my ~/.wine/config it ran fine and was able to burn CDs on my teac cd-r55s
scsi recorder. Only some minor graphic glitches were annoying.

How to backup from Win to Linux using smb

I submitted this one to the mailing list awhile back, but I've made some
improvements, so here it is again.
We have cron run a script every night that backs up all the systems (Win and
Unix) to a single tape. Naturally, the tape capacity needs to be large enough
for all the systems involved.

bug+fix: isolinux, mkisofs - added one directory to the CD => won't boot
[cross-posted to nntp://comp.os.linux.setup, sorry]
Dear Everyone,
I'm writing this message merely to publish this information
somewhere visible, so that others can find it when debugging a
linux-based bootable CD compilation setup...
For many months now, I've been using cdrtools 2.0 with
isolinux 2.04 to create bootable Linux CD's. I know there are
newer versions of both

Running Asterisk on a Dell PowerEdge 2850 ServerRe: Dell Hardware
It's Digium, not Dell.
I have two identical Dell 1850s, each with the allegedly offensive built-in E100 Ethernet ports. I placed a TE410P card in each. One worked great, the other would not modprobe. Upon examination, we discovered that the two TE410P cards had different firmware revisions. Turns out the one with the older version was the one that worked. We sent the second card back

Fwd: TASCAM Pre-Sales Support Request has been received - Reference: 4B130AY5
I'm forwarding this to the Icecast list in hopes that others can gain
some perspective on how the Tascam company operates currently as far as
supporting the Linux platform...Kind of dissapointing since it is known
that at least the US-100 product works very well with newer Linux
distributions. Maybe we can gently push them in the right direction and
gain an audio product company that supports

Need some help with pure Ruby win32-changenotify
Hi all,
I know it''s deprecated, but people seem to still be using
win32-changenotify, so I thought I''d see if I could make it pure Ruby.
Also, I thought it would be a good opportunity to test passing a custom
Win32::Event object.
I''m mostly done I think, but I''m having trouble unraveling the
FILE_NOTIFY_INFORMATION struct buffer. Please check out the

Some more win32-changenotify analysis
Hi all,
I decided to check the responsiveness of the pure Ruby vs C extension
versions of win32-changenotify. I setup this little file generator program:
a = []
10.times{ |n|
a << Thread.new{
File.open("File_#{n}", ''w''){ |fh| fh.puts "test #{n}" }
}
}
a.each{ |t| t.join }
The pure Ruby version did not do so well. In some cases it

might be interested in one part or another of the following...
Nick,
I think we're basically on the same page here. I'll first try to
cover some of my basic ideas in general, then respond to your
specific comments inline.
For one thing, I have long believed that it is smart to keep analog

I''ve checked in some code to win32-changenotify. Unfortunately, it
doesn''t work right. I need some help. I don''t understand what,
exactly, I''m supposed to pass to ReadDirectoryChangesW() for the 2nd
argument, nor how to read the data back out.
There''s also a WCHAR issue that needs to be worked out with regards to
