[LLVMdev] Syn
This sounds ambitious and should be very interesting, if you can make it work. The closest example I have heard of is work on metaprogramming (or partial evaluation) by exposing a compiler's parse trees to the programmer, but I suspect that is more limited. I don't know specific references offhand but one of the papers on MetaOCaml (which takes a different approach) may have

new bquote feature splice does not address a common LISP @ use case?
Dear R-devel, There is a new feature in R-devel, which explicitly refers to LISP @ operator for splicing. > The backquote function bquote() has a new argument splice to enable splicing a computed list of values into an expression, like ,@ in LISP's backquote. Although the most upvoted SO question asking for exactly LISP's @ functionality in R doesn't seems to be addressed by this

Macros and stuff
I was looking at my controller code and the edit/create/update/new for each are practically identical. So first I DRY''d the four methods in each controller to just one and then I decided to write a single macro for all my controllers. This is the macro: def self.edit_action_for(model, options = {}) model_class = Object.const_get(model) define_method(:edit) do

[LLVMdev] Ocaml(opt) & llvm
Hello All (to Ocaml List & CC LLVM list) As some might probably know, the LLVM compiler http://llvm.org/ has (at least in its latest SVN snapshot) a binding for Ocaml. This means that one could code in Ocaml some stuff (eg a JIT-ing compiler) which uses (and links with) LLVM libraries. http://lists.cs.uiuc.edu/pipermail/llvmdev/2007-November/011481.html

Everyone wants a RoR framework
It seems like everyone now has a RoR type framework: Perl: http://dev.catalyst.perl.org/ PHP: http://cakephp.org/ Python: http://www.django.com ASP.NET: http://www.castleproject.org/index.php/Main_Page etc., etc. Has a revolution begun with the birth of these "Web 2.0" frameworks? Its going to be interesting when the tech media begins its mass hype like it did SOAP, XML, etc. a

Problems with scsi-target-utils when hosted on dom0 centos 7 xen box
Hello We were attempting to use scsi-target-utils, hosted on a xen dom0 vm using localhost, and running into some problems. I was not able to reproduce this on a centos 7.2 server using the default kernel. (From dmesg) Apr 4 11:18:42 funk kernel: [ 596.511204] connection2:0: detected conn error (1022) Apr 4 11:18:42 funk kernel: connection2:0: ping timeout of 5 secs expired, recv

Problems with scsi-target-utils when hosted on dom0 centos 7 xen box
By natively, I take it using kernel /vmlinuz (vs kernel /xen) Not yet, but working on setting up such an environment. (At this time, I was using virt-install to reproduce the problem, and the original server we are testing on did not support kvm but the 2nd server does). unexpected behavior in list of lexical closures (PR#14004)
Full_Name: Elliott Forney Version: 2.9.2 OS: Linux, Fedora 10 Submission from: (NULL) (129.82.47.235) The following code creates a list of functions that are lexically closed over a single argument. If a print statement is included then each function in the list evaluates to a different value. If the print statement is not included then each function evaluates to something different, as

metaprogramming with lm
Hello, Say I want to make a multiple regression model with the following expression: lm(y~x1 + x2 + x3 + ... + x_n,data=mydata) It gets boring to type in the whole independent variables, in this case x_i. Is there any simple way to do the metaprogramming for this? (There are different cases where the names of the independent variables might sometimes have apparent patterns or not)

Nullsoft Vorbis Decoder v.1.11a Bug Report
Hi, there. While waiting for the encoder RC1, I will report some minor problems I experienced with Peter's Winamp decoder. First, I am using Nullsoft Vorbis Decoder v.1.11a with Winamp v.2.76 on Windows 98 SE. 1. When the buttons of Playlist Editor are extended, the part extended in playlist screen seems to be flickering when an Ogg file is being played. 2. I check the option of

History plugin
Hello, I felt annoyed enough when having to redirect user back to their previous location in a hackish way that I wrote this plugin. It avoids storing POST and Ajax request. It also has a facility to specify actions not to store in the history. If you are interested, it''s there: http://blog.cosinux.org/pages/rails-history See you all, Damien -- Damien MERENNE
