New voiceovers for Allison Smith: submit today
I'm sending in a set of voiceover requests to Allison Smith this afternoon. I haven't kept up with the -users list to know if there is someone keeping track of this stuff any more... We only have a few phrases for her to record, and if anyone has applications which require Allison's voice for the "asterisk-sounds" repository, let me know. I'll be sending this in

[DEVELOPERS NEEDED] Podcasting Website
I''m wanting to build a community based website where users can create podcasts, similar to odeo, but I want it to be alot easier for the users to find podcasts or create their own. I''m in need of a couple developers and a designer. I''m a developer myself, but am looking for a couple people that know rails inside and out It''s a non-paid deal, it would just

Fwd: [whatwg] Cue points in media elements
Hi, this is an email from the HTML5 standardisation group, which I thought would be very interesting to Annodex and Xiph people. I do not know enough about the cue points that he is talking about to know how much should be done in html/javascript and how much directly in the media. But I found the need for cue points interesting. Maybe someone here has an answer to Brian on how it could work or

jspeex distortion playback issue
Hi all, I'm having a playback issue I can't eliminate. I'm encoding 16khz mono WAV files (voiceover recordings) to speex using a quality setting of 4. In any standalone speex player e.g. winamp or using speex frontend etc. the files play fine, but in a jspeex environment there's a subtle high pitched beeping type distortion, mostly on the transients. The sound is similar to

Switch to static file when stream unavailable...
I've combed through the archives and can't really find an answer to this. Essentially, I'm trying to set-up streaming for a college radio station. There are several programs which are syndicated that we apparently can't rebroadcast. The easiest thing that came to mind was setting up a cron job to shut down liveice at the appropriate time, swap index pages on the web server

FW: Combined grouped and stacked bargraph
Dear R list, It appears that my request from yesterday got a bit garbled. I have tried to rephrase and retype it - please let me know if you can help me - I am having some trouble drawing a bar-graph with two groups, both of which are stacked. I would like to plot the conservation status according to two classifications (i.e. my groups - IUCN status and national status), and for each of those

Re: The LPBN radio station.
Yes, I'm listening to Aardvark Recorders Present: Local Players - one.mp3 So you want to syndicate? Or you want both localplayers and the LPBN to just share stuff. Anyway I like the idea and am ready to move ahead. I have a bulletin board on the LPBN for the radio station but I think if I create a mail group it will be easier to communicate with all the people that are building the

Re: The LPBN radio station.
Hi: I really liked the music on your 32kbps stream. That is what I listened to. It is very high quality low bandwidth. You must have a recording studio as well as the station. The website for the Linux Public Broadcasting Network is www.lpbn.org I'll create a mailing list for radio on LPBN later tonight so our emails don't disrupte the kind folks at icecast. Just a note, on Sunday I

Combining files
Hi: I am a very recent user of R 1.40 for MacOSX and went through the help files but did not not find the function that I am looking for. I have two comma separated files which I want to partly combine. File 1 has 49670 lines and 26 columns (separated by commas) and looks like this: ...

Sorry for my ignorance but what is the LPBN???? I don't think my main stream was running after I mailed you earlier today. It is running right now. Do you have an URL for LPBN??? Re: The LPBN radio station.
hi I wonder if you would like to join my localplayer.com network? I operate on the same philosophy. All my artists are unsigned and I have their consent to stream their music. on my station. I envision a drop down menu that helps me navigate to the city of my choice. Raymond wrote: > Hello: > > I'm starting a radio station on the LPBN. The music will be from all > local Los

Synchronizing a streaming client to the server Was: Idea to possibly improve flac?
The issue is that silent frames compress to a very small size, and the Ogg packeting layer can put more than one FLAC frame into a page. So if you have an extended period of silence with a live or rate-limited input stream, the client buffers may exhaust themselves before a new page can be put together and transmitted. > This thread has raised several good topics. right usage of bdrb
Hi, i''m going to implement a syndication-service, which will get lists in xml with some meta-data an enclosed video files, which will get encoded at the end. The syndication run will be startet every five minutes of a full hour. So i thought to build 4 Worker. One for checking which feeds to syndicate (syndication_worker) at a specific time, one for processing the list
