trouble with user's right indexing with omega
Hi,
I'm using omindex to index files and I want make query with user/group
boolean prefix (I*, I at ... and I#...). That work well with "other" and
"group" right, but not in all case for "user" right.
Here is an example:
assume that we have an user "ftp" not in "users" group. If file right are:

Put set these three in your global smb.conf.

And on the share i have set.
wide links = yes
follow symlinks = yes
and this is working for years for me.
Try these and report back.
If its not working tell us you OS and samba version

Hi,
I'm using Samba 4.1.6 (version included in last Ubuntu LTS version).
I've some directories in a share. One of them has an exe file. In root
of my share I've a lnk file to this exe.
So I've:
/home/share/IntegrDom/IntegrDom.exe
and
/home/share/Install_Client_Scribe.lnk (which is a link to
/home/share/IntegrDom/IntegrDom.exe).
This point is important, if I remove this lnk

Hi,
Thank you for your answer, would you mind if I ask for some more help ?
I'm sorry I don't understand exactly why you told me to look at the
`enable privileges` parameter in the man pages as an answer.
I have already closely

enable privileges (G)
This deprecated parameter controls whether or not smbd will honor privileges assigned to specific SIDs via either net rpc rights or one of the Windows user and
group manager tools. This parameter is enabled by default. It can be disabled to prevent members of the Domain Admins group from being

Yes, mount bind is an option also.
But in my case i have script running which autocreated symlinks to file/folders spread over multiple servers.
And the symlinks are created in the user homedir, and general data folders.
Which makes a mount bind much more resource full.
In my case i need about 180 mount binds.. :-/ which remounts to different files/folders very day.

Question about the ticket #743 omindex: delay libmagic checks
Hi,
I'm working on the ticket #743 omindex: delay libmagic checks
<https://trac.xapian.org/ticket/743>. As the ticket's
Description mention, the call to libmagic is expensive than call the stat,
so we can check the size by call the stat to get size before call
libmagic to get a mime type.
But how about the timestamps check? since timestamps check need to iterate
the DB to check if

Mailman - searchable archive
Mailman works well for our mailing lists, but the archive is
unacceptable - the worst thing is lack of search function.
I got one tip for this:
1) emails converted to html format with mhonarc
2) search can be done with htdig
Opinions? Maybe there are better software solutions for this - I hope.

help improving relevance of snippets displayed by Omega
Hi,
Thanks for creating Xapian and Omega. I have been amazed by how easy they
make it to get a basic full-text search engine up and running.
I'm wondering if you can help me better understand one aspect of the
results I am getting from the default query template.
Usually the snippet that's displayed in response to a query doesn't contain
the word that the user searched for, even

Pls include Message-Id hdrs!! (Re: alternate mail archive)
Please include all the relevant headers in any mailing list archives you
set up.
Specifically:
- From
- To
- Cc
- Date
- Subject
- Message-Id
- Reply-To
- Followups-To
and so on. The From/To/Cc headers are not absolutely necessary, but the
others are.
This is necessary so that those of us who don't subscribe to the list
can actually reply correctly to mails posted to the list.

All,
I'm having some issues compiling omega. Here are the particulars
I'm on win7, using cygwin 4.9.2 64 bit. Here's the relevant output from

ANNOUNCE: alternate mail archive site
I really dislike ListProcessor, the mailing list software samba.org
uses. There's a lot of reasons, most having to do with header
rewriting, but that's not the point of this message.
One thing I don't like is its list archive feature. The archives are
hard to navigate, and the threading is atrocious. I'm accustomed to
MHonArc-generated archives, like they use at debian.org and

LDAP, sieve, and virtual users
This seems to be a common topic but I haven't seen anyone ask this exact
question and get a decent answer:
I use virtual mailboxes with all of the db's in LDAP. Last night I
upgraded to the latest CVS version of dovecot and dovecot-lda and got
global sieve filtering working by setting the global_script_path to a
sieve like /home/vmail/mydomain/sieve and it works great. Now I need to

Dovecot Virtual Users & Sendmail
Not directly Dovecot, but a configuration problem.
We have a working set-up with Dovecot+Procmail+Sendmail, using
POP-before-SMTP. We want to be able to offer email accounts to some
local schools, using SquirrelMail (keeps their costs & maintenance
down). The whole arrangement is working, but we don't want to have to

combining databases for omega
From the documentation I've read, omega can read from multiple
databases, but I'm not sure how to go about this.
I have three databases created using omindex, currently located at
/var/lib/xapian-omega/data/share, /var/lib/xapian-omega/data/users, and
/var/lib/xapiax-omega/data/management
The quickstart guide says that in omega.conf database_dir should point
