Dual Wan Router with Failover
Hi List,
Does anyone know of a good dual wan router that can handle SIP well and can failover between connections if there is a SIP issue on one of the lines (meaning there still is a connection however there isnt enough bandwith or sip packets arent going thru etc.) ?
Thanks.

Internet Load Balancing and Failover
Hi All,
Does anyone have any experience connecting two or more DSL/Cable modems to
a Linux box to provide load balancing and failover?
I've done some googling and found a few resources but very few solid
experiences.
I'm trying to optimize my LAN->Internet traffic for a bunch of
workstations.

Redundant internet connections.
(I know that what I''m wanting to do can be done, but for some reason I
can not get it to work for the life of me. I think I have been staring
at it too long and too closely.)
I have two different internet connections from two cooperating ISPs. I
also have a small 8 block of IPs that are globally routable that both
ISPs will route to me via my world facing globally routable IPs that

Remote Telecasts?
All --
Does anyone have experience doing remote live broadcasts over Icecast? My
thought is to use a Dell laptop running Windows (yeah, I know ;-), digitize
locally to 16khz, and pump the output to a remote Linux box.
Has anyone done something like this before? Thoughts? Issues?
Thanks,
Roy

other is business cable. Both connections come into my office into (2)

I have all my DHCP settings setup for a gateway of 192.168.1.1

nat router + sip phone adaptor (+adsl modem)
Hi all,
I was wondering whether any of you have experience/info on Cable and/or ADSL
modems that would come together with a SIP phone adaptor. What I am
interested in is something that would plug directly into you ISP's cable (be
it ethernet or adsl/phoneline), would combine a modem/router/nat such that
on the other you could simply plug in your RJ-45 cable for your PC and a
RJ-11 cable for

One Internet IP private, One Internet IP Public
Hi,i''m newbie with shorewall ...
Currently i have a box with 2 ethernet cards and ppp0 dial up, one of the ethernet cards is plugged to my Cable modem , my ISP provider gave me a private internet IP, so i have to contract a dial up service to get a public Internet IP in order to run some servers.

RE: installing automatic routes ?
Unless the bridge keeps stateful inspection data and can reply back to
the session''s origin, not it route then its fine.
The only way I can see this working is either putting the FTP/.. DMZ
behind the firewall giving true firewall protection for all services
involved, or if you just want to kludge the current solution, you can
perform a DNAT/SNAT interface bounce like the following:

Blocking rfc1918 addresses with one exception
Hi
I''ve come accross a small problem with the rcf1918 address blocking on
my internet interface.
Im connected via a cable modem and it has an internel web server that
allows me to configure/monitor it but as expected if I enable rfc1918
blocking for my eth0 interface(The internet one) it also blocks the
cable modems web server. Is there any way it can add a rule before the

Spotty internet connection
How do you IT guys diagnose the problem with a spotty internet connection?
Just spent an hour on the phone with TWC/Spectrum. Of course they don't see
anything wrong with their service.
They send me to speedtest.net. The first attempt, the page didn't fully
load, the second attempt, the page didn't load at all, the third attempt, it
loaded.
On a 20/2MB line I get 24.83/2.47MB. The

Cable Internet problem when Shorewall started
I just switched from a Magma DSL connection to a
Rogers cable connection, but I am unable to access the
Internet (resolve hosts) when Shorewall is started. I
am not dropping packets destined for the ports by
which
Rogers sets the ip address, nor do I filter others
which Rogers uses. In fact, I removed all of that from
/etc/shorewall/rules and restarted Shorewall, but
without success.

Modems: Cable or DSL digital blunders that lartc may help with.
I have a Cable ''modem'' that has a problem that many of these devices is
bound to have. I was wondering what other lartc user thought about this
and if DSL has simular problems.
Cable, being Asymetrical, is able to upload at a given rate and hopefully
has a buffer, in the modem, of some kind. When I nc(netcat) to a UDP
echo, or discard, server I get about 10Mbps out on my

Questions about PRI lines for modem banks and Asterisk
I have a friend with a PRI coming into a modem bank that is receiving
56K modem calls and some ISDN data calls. He wants to dump his analog
office phone lines and use some of the capacity on the PRI. I have been
digging through the mail archives and Wiki site on this subject but the
information I found doesn't give me a high enough confidence to go buy a
few T1 cards and try it out.

Slightly OT and mildly insane: Modems through VoIP :-))
Hi,
First off, let me state that _YES, I am fully aware that what I am doing is
insane, prone to major havoc and bad for general health_ :-))
Scenario: My GF needs an analog modem to use with her banking software
(sodding backs don't supply a decent web-application for company use). I am
experimenting to see if we can get it to work (albeit slow) trough our ATA186
