virtio nic dosent use 10gbe speed.
Hello all.
We are moving from Xenserver 6.5 environment to KVM because we can't use
10gbe speed in our VM's so we decided to test KVM.
To inicial test I've create script, using qemu commands, to build two VM's
and test the nic speed.
Each VM has one nic, using virtio, into it own bridge. In this bridge we
associate one 10gbe physical nic.
They can communicate each other.

Hi,
I have a guest enabled vIOMMU, but on the guest there are several devices

Could someone help to check if I missed something?
Thank you very much!

VM not booting with physical hardware attached
Dear all,
I'm looking for a bit of help with a problematic VM. We have an
hypervisor which has 4 eth ports. 3 are already used, and I wanted to
pass the 4th one directly to a VM (which is fully working without it).
So, I modified the XML accordingly (which matches our hardware), adding:
<hostdev mode='subsystem' type='pci' managed='yes'>

I am trying to add a Broadcom Physical NIC to a virtual Machine as

Could you please help with questions about the net failover feature
Hi laine,
I have leave some questions on IRC, but my VPN broken time after time.
Please ignore the questions on IRC.
In my understanding, the standby and primary hostdev interface may be in
different subnet.
I'm not sure whether it is correct. Could you please help to explain? Thank
you in advance.
For example, primary hostdev is connected to vf-pool with <pf='eth0'/>,

[libvirt] SRIOV configuration
Hello,
We encountered a problem while testing SRIOV on kubevirt [1]:
We are currently using the Device "hostdev" generic options to
pass-through the VF to the guest.
It is not done through the "interface" (with type hostdev) because
that option requires access to the PF which is not available in our
case (the VF is moved to the container namespace where libvirt runs,
but not

Network cards not recognised
Hi,
We have a HP DL385 G6 server that is having an issue. Two of the 4
network cards are not being recognised by Linux.
We have quite a few other servers with the same hardware and no issues
but, before I call HP, I would like to make sure that I am not doing
anything wrong :)
I have tried with the kernel that came with CentOS 5.5 and the updated
one kernel-2.6.18-194.11.3.

automatically detaching PCI host devices from guest for SRIOV usage.
Dear List ,
We are using intel 82599EB based SRIOV capable 10GbE cards
on the host machine. The VFs are being assigned to the guest
in pass through mode and are providing the network connectivity
as expected.
However when we shutdown the guest the connectivity does not
comes back via the VFs on the guest in next boot unless
the VFs are detached from the *guest* *before* initiating a
shutdown of

Re: Could you please help with questions about the net failover feature
Hi Laine,
For the feature testing before, I only test the linux bridge setting as in
2), it works.
Now I tried 1), to use macvtap bridge mode connected to the PF, it can not
work as the hostdev interface can not get dhcp ip address on the guest.
Check on host, the /var/log/messages and dmesg both says:
"Jul 6 04:54:45 dell-per730-xx kernel: ixgbe 0000:82:00.1 enp130s0f1: 1

MEMDISK issues and Dell OptiPlex and Latitude systems
Hello all. Again I call upon the greats of this mailing list to help me with an issue related to MEMDISK - notably when paired with various Dell OptiPlex and Latitude systems.
The issue presented itself sometime ago and I best dealt with it by remaining with version 3.83 of the SYSLINUX package. But valuing the improved changes fostered by newer versions, I would prefer to move forward with

I'd presume virsh makes the best possible choice, right?
It is that just seems bit... odd having realtek in guest and

net passthrough (hostdev) and external DNS problem - libvirt host claims DNS update
hi everybody
I'm having I pretty regular setup, so I'd like to think.
Guest network is to use passthrough and a DNS+DHCP on a
neighbour system gets requests and then DHCP updates DNS
records but with libvirt host's name instead of guest's.
Am I missing something here?
How do make a guest claim DNS update and the not host on
which that guest is running?
many thanks
P.
