Install question
I have been running Fedora for a number of years and have decided that for my mailserver system (which doubles as a small time web server) I want to go to an OS that has a supported lifespan of more than a year, especially since this machine has in the past been up longer than a year without reboots. The machine that it will ultimately host the OS is a dual processor P3 machine with 2GB of

CentOS 6.6: Webcam problem
Last month we discussed the problems with webcams in CentOS 6 and I raised Bugzilla #1158988 with Red Hat. This bug has now been declared a duplicate of 1145805. Unfortunately I'm unable to access that report so although I know Red Hat are looking into the matter I don't know what they're doing. Ron

solid-state asterisk pbx?
I've been thinking of making a (mostly) solid-state asterisk pbx. Take either centos or some other distro, cut it down to bare minimum and put asterisk + AMP on. Something that could be put onto a usb2.0 flash stick, bootable. Modern flash devices (usb, compactflash) have builtin wear leveling management and will last longer than you think:

Resident keys?
Hello, I?m trying out the ?resident key? functionality in OpenSSH 8.2, and I?m having trouble getting it to find keys that I?ve created. I?m trying to create a new resident key using: ssh-keygen -O resident -t ed25519-sk -f <filename> This creates a key, but I?m not actually sure it is creating a ?resident? key, as when I try to dump out the resident keys with either ?ssh-keygen -K?

a dedicated audio encoder
Hi, In our design of Icecast2, our multiple sources will stream their high quality audio via a dedicated audio encoder (not a computer): Live audio > L+R microphone > pre amplifier > audio encoder > Icecast2 VPS So far I have a shortlist of 4 possible brands of audio encoders: Sonifex PS-SEND, Barix Instreamer, Bric-Link, Outcaster OC100. All have their pro's and cons.

[PATCH]add usb-ver format check to avoid usb-list error and incorrect usb-ver saved into config file
Add usb-ver format check to "usb-hc-create". In original file, "usb-hc-create" allows usb-ver parameter as "2/2.0/2.0aaa". In low level hc create, it only uses the integer part (that is "2"), so there is no problem. But 2/2.0/2.0aaa will be saved into VM config. After that, while doing "usb-list", it cannot handle "2.0/2.0aaa" and will

Tripp-Lite SMART1500LCDT
I've made some progress getting this Tripplite to work: http://gathman.org/2016/07/30/Standard_Schmandard/ Basically, plug it into a USB hub that actually implements USB2.0, then power cycle the port when it hangs. It does seem to be a hardware problem with the USB controller. On 05/24/2016 09:06 AM, Charles Lepple wrote: > On May 22, 2016, at 10:18 AM, Stuart Gathman wrote: >> I

Samba for Embedded System, Network-Storage and Print-Server
Hi, I am new to the mailing list, if any thing is wrong please excuse me in advance. We are running Linux-2.4.20 on the MIPS32 architecture. We have USB2.0 host and various network interfaces on the board and we want to support "USB Network-Storage" and "USB Print-Server". Until now I am able the make "USB-Storage" and "USB-Printer" working locally.

memdisk speed diagnostics?
Would it be a usefull addition to memdisk's "pause" parameter if it showed the loading speed for the specified disk image file? The idea is to verify if a device is really loading an operating system's data at the intended device/controller/interface/bus (etc) speed. My own system has a habit of setting usb2.0 interface to 1.1-speeds for example. With (hopefully) bootable

NUT support for the new Tripp Lite AVR700U (USB 3024) under OpenWrt?
Dears, I'm trying to connect this new version of the AVR700U to nut - 2.7.4-27 running over OpenWrt 22.03.5, installed from the stable release repositories, for an ath79 USB2.0 gigabit WiFi router. According to the supported list, I thought this UPS was supposed to use the USB 2010 protocol, but I guess that was an old version because now uses the 3024 protocol (perhaps it would be good to
